Use SSL, use external IP check as already advised. Also, please consider upgrading.

EDITED. Someone (no names) added confusion with their screenshot and I read this entire thread way too fast and missed details in the first few posts.

Because it was removed. I knew I should've saved or archived.

@bobby121418: Please don't do such nonsense, it breaks continuity and completely ruins the discussion, regardless of you getting caught with your pants down.

Thanks.
I have updated to the fimrware and made the changes you suggested.

Please see updated screen capture.

I am still waiting to be able to ping the DDNS address, but after almost 30min, still cannot.

Does DDNS have a port forwarding?

Thanks

I'm afraid we're going round in circles.
Since the question about the external IP check has already been answered before

The new IP is also wrong, its a private IP, but must be your Internet IP. Did you activate "Use Externam IP Check"?

I am confused.
One of the above posts says to:
Use SSL, do not use external IP check

If I do as suggested, I only get private IP, not the Internet IP.

Previous post edited. Use SSL, Use External IP check as previously advised. My previous recommendation was in error based on someone else's example config screenshot that did not include Use External IP check ticked (and their attitude). Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, that helped and I can now connect to the internal Lan from an external Ip such as my phone.

One thing else that I had to change was my hostname: to just my username, not the full address.

What I can't seem to do is navigate to external webs, is this normal?

Thanks

The field is called hostname and not username

Unbelievable, and my screenshot has shown that it works with the hostname

Topic closed.

nice that you still can't read

please do us a favor and look for another router firmware

if, after two pages of discussion, you still can't manage to fill out 2 simple fields without errors, then dd-wrt is unsuitable for you

@Moderators please close the thread

This is the only correct configuration ("use external IP check" - depends if the router has a public WAN address)

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1294023#1294023

Brainslayer and I have tested the DuckDNS template several times.

The thread is absolutely pointless and leads to nothing.

Pretty sure your problem is tied to these threads:

Openvpn has stopped working-new setup didn't help
How to run OpenVPN and Flashrouters simultaneously

DDNS shouldn't affect your internet browsing, unless your overall DNS and VPN tunnel configuration is clobbering each other. It could also be that what you are trying to navigate to is blocked by chosen VPN. Without full details, it's difficult to troubleshoot, but that is beyond the scope of this thread.
