Posted: Mon Dec 18, 2023 17:24 Post subject: Wireless speeds are painfully slow
My router is a Netgear R7800. It is running Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r54475 std (12/07/23).
When I run speedtest on a wired-connected device, I get about 300mbps down.
Mobile devices aren't always equipped with the best wifi. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

Post your wireless configuration screen shot for help

On Android mobile i move a file from pc to phone <->, using a simple little app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pzolee.android.localwifispeedtester&hl=en_GB&gl=US
A lot better than speed test, as this actually measures your internal wireless speeds. _________________ Netgear R7800 PPPoE Main Router

For the one image, I have the following questions:
Channel Width - Don't use HT40 - but which one to use?
TurboQAM Suport - Not clear if to enable or disable?
Extension Channel - Don't see
single user beamforming - don't see
multi user beamforming - don't see
Different environments' will differ slightly, no one on this forum knows what devices you have so settings may differ a little.
I have posted a way for you to test your internal wireless settings and a very good starting point.
Rather than post questions, why not run your own tests and report your findings?
The little server client app is great for tweaking and testing your wireless throughput after changes have been made to your Wlan config.
Make back ups, have a go, restore if you cock it up, people on here will indeed help you more if they see you trying/testing/reporting findings or issues. _________________ Netgear R7800 PPPoE Main Router

droidus looking at your wifi pic, to utilize a good speeds, it seams your config is very wrong ... copy paste any value and goggle its meaning...and deep search in the forum if needed..
do your homework...also there are no universal settings as there are various wifi vendors..so correct set up would be a proper balance...kind of..
Personally i use some of the settings, but dont use 3 those below...and some of those are very
Netgear specific...the last 2
TurboQAM Suport
like
single user beamforming
multi user beamforming
did you mention your router model ? and this is your first and very important miss... _________________ Atheros

I will try that, but I was hoping that there's something that stands out that is very wrong, and is a quick fix.
"it seams your config is very wrong" - Can you please expand? Which values, and what should they be? It would be nice to know, instead of spending days troubleshooting this. I don't mind researching these settings, but it will take me a while.
