Hi,

I set the personal DNS in the dd-wrt router configuration, but when it connects to the VPN it takes those of the VPN directly, is there a method to set the personal DNS even when the VPN is connected?

Start with sharing router model and build number so that we can better assist you.

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

You are probably referring to an OpenVPN client?

Router: WRT3200ACM
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)

yes, once connected with OpenVPN Client it automatically generates the DNS of the VPN and not those set on the router...

I've seen the beta versions, but my question is, after updating, is the backup save configuration file compatible with the beta, or do I have to reconfigure everything from scratch?

You are running an old and outdated build which is no longer supported.

Either update to the latest build 54682 or to the latest K4.9 build 53633

Coming from such an old build a reset *after* update and rebuild from scratch (so do not restore a backup) is highly recommended.

OpenVPN Client setup guide has useful information.

About DNS, see the VPN and DNS guide paragraph about "OpenVPN DNS server" will show you how to stop DNS servers being pushed by the OpenVPN server.

All guides can be found in a sticky in this forum: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=327398

I understand... but I was waiting for a definitive version for my router, why does the site let me download the 2020 version?

It depends on who you ask, my main router for which I cannot afford downtime as I am also running a business is still on the latest K4.9 build, but there are many happy users running the latest K6.1 build.

Maybe just read what it says on the official website.

but sooner or later will the updated build be released on the official website?

anyway thanks for the answers, you were very kind, when I have some time I try to update to the build you provided me, the only problem is that if I can't restore the backup I have to reprogram everything from scratch and it's very complicated, there there are various settings that I have inserted over time…

thx again!
