Just bought a D-Link DIR-3040 (AC3000) from an online marketplace.
Router has DDWRT loaded, but reports the router as a DIR-881
I'd like to return this router to stock firmware, but downloading firmware from D-link and putting it into the upgrade firmware section in DDWRT doesn't do anything except power cycle the router.
Any help or direction as to how to return this thing to stock would be appreciated.
Current firmware is DD-WRT v4.14-r54640M CRISPIN (12/28/23) if that helps

Neither are supported by DDWRT it does not look like an official DDWRT build
D-Link recovery procedure (but I do not know if it applies to this router)
Power down the device
Press and hold the reset button on the device and re-plug the power without releasing the reset button
Continue to hold the reset button until the red/orange power light starts blinking
On the computer, manually assign a static IP address on the 192.168.0.xxx subnet, other than 192.168.0.1 (e.g. 192.168.0.2)
Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.0.1
Choose the firmware file you want to flash and click on “Upload”
After the file has been uploaded, you should see a “Device is upgrading the firmware” message on the web browser
Wait while the device verify the uploaded file and flash the firmware
The device will reboot automatically after the flashing process finishes _________________ Routers:Netgear R7000, R6400v1, R6400v2, EA6900 (XvortexCFE), E2000, E1200v1, WRT54GS v1.

This is @broly's mad hacked version of DD-WRT and is not an officially supported version. He was banned from this community for his antics and for not publishing his development tree. His github repository doesn't cut it. I presume you mean it reports as a DIR-882, which either way means that he does not have detection codes right so it will reject the stock firmware from the webUI. Only means of recovery is to use Emergency Room as noted.
Thank you for the fast response. I did get the emergency flash working however I have tried all three official firmwares from the DLink website and each gave me a "flash failed" message. Router is still borked.
