ksmbd was still broken. Got the following in the process list, the command (possibly called by process_monitor) likely froze!! We knew that during init, DD-WRT's processes were always restarted multiple times.
Code:
# ps | grep smb
2xxx root [ksmbd:54026]
2xxx root sh -c echo hard > /sys/class/ksmbd-control/kill_server
5xxx root grep smb
Also, USB auto-mount failed for /jffs. /dev/sda1 for jffs was completely ingored. Strangely, /opt (/dev/sda5) was mounted properly. sda1 was also NOT listed in WEBUI's USB page. Lighttpd also reported failed SSL certificate.
But that was the first firmware reboot.
After cold boot, jffs was back and... ksmbd responded for a brief period of time, then failed. Basically, ksmbd was behaving like build 54905. A kernel problem??
Well... going back to 54682.
One small thing:
I issued "service samba3 stop" in build 55003. Of course, the command froze and couldn't be killed. Without thinking, I flashed the firmware back to 54682. You could see the messages from the write command came out slowly. It's lucky that the write completed without error. BUT it's better to reboot once first, making sure no processes were freezing. _________________ Router: Asus RT-N18U (rev. A1)

Router/Version: Asus RT-AC87U R
Update method: WebUpgrade
File/Kernel: asus_rt-ac87u-firmware.trx_r55003 std / Linux 4.4.302-st48 #10912 SMP Mon Jan 22 14:50:22 +06 2024 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r54914 / no
Mode/Status: Gateway / Up and running for 3:12 hours
CPU Temperature: CPU 60.8 °C / WL0 39.5 °C / WL1 0.0 °C (ambient temperature 17.0 °C)
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant
As always, the Quantenna chip has its own quirks. This is a closed source chipset
There is no way to install a channel.
But you can disable 5.0 GHz. @mpgalaxy hack "If you set the radio mode to station bridge and disable the network mode, the 5GHz device will turn off completely even after reboot."
The fact is that the router is connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the red WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). The internet works, I just think it's a glitch.
But this does not affect the work.
Just relax
Thank you BS and gurus! _________________ Atheros

Router: R7000
Build: 55003
I played with some options in Samba Configuration and in Access Level with Resticted option, Samba working without any problems. Does not worh with Everyone option.
I do not have any other problems with this biuld - thanks.
PS.After some time, samba stopped working. Several times the router froze and became unresponsive.

Settings were not relevant. It's the problem of ksmbd process itself.
edit:
On second thought, maybe it's the kernel module function. ext4 can be a kernel module, so does ksmbd. _________________ Router: Asus RT-N18U (rev. A1)
