I've been trying to connect my usb hard drive on asus but when I try to access it, it shows up as empty.
USB settings page

NAS page

I tried mounting on /opt with UUID
still didn't work.
samba works since I can access shared folder "main" from windows

cat /proc/mounts output

Code:
/dev/root / squashfs ro,relatime 0 0
proc /proc proc rw,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs rw,relatime 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs rw,relatime 0 0
ramfs /tmp ramfs rw,relatime 0 0
none /dev tmpfs rw,relatime,size=512K 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,relatime,mode=600 0 0
devpts /proc/bus/usb usbfs rw,relatime 0 0

I tried mounting with "mount ntfs -o rw,users,mask=000 /dev/sda1/ /mnt/sda1" and by just checking automount as shown in screenshot.

Must be ext file system to mount to /opt. Format as ext4 and label opt or optware and it should automonut.

Your current should have /mnt/sda1 as path

Build is from 2021, many USB/samba/security et al changes since.

Upgrade and be happy.

  • Hot-plugging USB devices might not be auto-mounted. Try a reboot with drive *ATTACHED* to USB port!
  • Did you forget to `mkdir /mnt/sda1`? But if you enabled USB auto-mounting, DD-WRT should create standard mount-points.
  • Do not expect too much from DD-WRT's NTFS-3G support, especially about writing.
  • Do not mount NTFS and FAT partitions as /opt and /jffs, as lazardo said!
  • You can use commands disktype and blkid instead of checking /proc/mounts directly.

If your CFE is not upgraded and you are not running K3X, you should be. As already stated, upgrading your firmware version is advised as help and assistance is dependent on it.

This worked after fixing drive with chkdsk /f on windows system as I read it somewhere on forums suggested. Even though drive was mounting without problems both on Windows and Linux OS.
Instead of just showing /mnt in NAS page it showed /mnt/sda1 in dropdown, before fixing it was only /mnt that was a trick.
