Router/Version: Asus RT-AC87U R
Update method: WebUpgrade
File/Kernel: asus_rt-ac87u-firmware.trx_r55363 std / Linux 4.4.302-st49 #11209 SMP Wed Mar 13 12:23:46 +06 2024 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r55350 / no
Mode/Status: Gateway / Up and running for 2:10 hours
CPU Temperature: CPU 63.6 °C / WL0 40.5 °C / WL1 0.0 °C (ambient temperature 17.0 °C)
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant

As always, the Quantenna chip has its own quirks. This is a closed source chipset
There is no way to install a channel. Crying or Very sad
But you can disable 5.0 GHz. @mpgalaxy hack "If you set the radio mode to station bridge and disable the network mode, the 5GHz device will turn off completely even after reboot." Wink

The fact is that the router is connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the red WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). The internet works, I just think it's a glitch.
But this does not affect the work.
Just relax
Cool

CPU temperature is not displayed correctly.
CPU temperature readings started changing after one second from 63.6 - 64.1 °C

Thank you BS and gurus!

Router/Version: WRT54GL v1.1
File/Kernel: dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin k2.4.37
Previous/Reset: 46239 Full reset
Mode/Status: WAP
Issues/Errors: Switch Config

Thought I would update one of these old WRT54GL routers to use as a 2.4ghz access point for my IoT stuff, since my EA8500 sucks ass on 2.4ghz. However if I enable VLANs under Switch Config tab, it makes the router unaccessable and unbootable until I complete reset it. No other changes were made inside Switch Config except enabling it. Tried multiple times!

EDIT: Looks like this is probably the culprit:
Code:

Mar 16 20:46:11 WRT54GL1 user.info syslog: [bridge] : interface vlan1 successfully deleted from bridge br1

So it's deleting vlan1 which would be all the switch ports, if I am not mistaken.

I don't know if Broadcom K24 (or K26) firmware images have swconfig, and if they do not, then you have to do things the fun way per Switched Ports Wiki. I'd have to investigate in the code for the page.

The swconfig command is not present. Guess this old thing is not going to do what I need it to do without vlans. Ugh!

EDIT: Okay, it still may be possible using your suggestion. I believe this would be it:

So reading though the Switched Port guides, both the official and the unofficial. ( https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1102836 ), it looks as if I do need to enable the Switch Config tab. However, I think most if not all the settings recommended on those pages are already set by default. However, if not, then I have no way to change them. This is again because simply ENABLING the vlans to get to those settings causes the router not to boot. BTW, I have tried all this on two different WRT54GL v1.1s now, just in case it was a hardware issue. They are both about the same age, so that really doesn't prove anything.

While I can certainly understand not wanting to support a 15 year old router, why was swconfig left out of this router when all other Broadcom routers were switched over to it (I am assuming)? Perhaps it is nothing more than oversight?

EDIT: Also just noticed that even though I installed r55363, it is actually Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r55209M std (02/27/24)

I believe this is a bad build, I installed it on my Netgear 7000P and my wifi ping jitter got very high and the download speed dropped to 10Mbps. After downgrading back to r55303 that I was on earlier, everything was back to normal. Might be best to stick to an older version until there is a fix.

Edit: Also got really bad numbers when doing the speed test from the admin UI WAN tab, so I don't think it's wifi related but something with the actual router.

Problem(s) might be solved by a cold boot (aka power off then on).

I found that 55xxx builds would reject all connections after 2 consecutive soft boots.

I see, thats why. When I enable CTF + CTF it auto reboots and speeds becomes corrupt. Only fix is to save the settings and cold reboot. There is an active ticket about it, hope it get fixed. https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/7743

Router/Version: WRT160N v3
File/Kernel: dd-wrt.v24-55363_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_wrt160nv3.bin
Previous/Reset: Can't remember / Reset to defaults
Mode/Status: Working as an access point
Issues/Errors: Upgraded and reset to defaults and all seems well. Only used it for about 30 minutes before putting it back up.

Router/Version: WRT54GS v2
File/Kernel: dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54gs.bin
Previous/Reset: Previous r43652 / Reset after uprading
Mode/Status: Working as an access point.
Issues/Errors: Used the dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54gs.bin because the dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin seems to upgrade to an older build as reported in this thread. I compared the sha256sum of two different std_generic bins and they were the same so I think it's just an issue with this file. Only really use this to connect some old consoles for LAN games or to FTP files to some older consoles but it seems to be working fine.

FYI, that I am downgrading my Asus RT-ac68u A1 from r55363 build.

The internet stability was unbearable and to my surprise much worse than the I had with ISP sub-par firmware router (Inteno DG301 with ISP firmware)...

With RT-68u and r55363 build I had a following problems:

a) Wifi clients (Mobile Phone Xiaomi Note 11 Pro) could not renew their DHCP lease properly (at least this was my understanding, as the phone had IP and was connected to router, but not tu the internet), resulting "No internet" moaning. I increased the lease time as per suggested here in forums, but this just increased the time-span between drops.

b) Ethernet clients seemed to have a similar issue: the connections from the router dropped quite quickly -- the IP address and connection between router and client stayed intact, but internet connection was lost. This affected the Ethernet connected Smart TV as well as my secondary dd-wrt AP for increasing Wifi coverage.

At the moment I am back to ISP firmware rotuer Inteno DG301 (i.e no dd-wrt there), where the up- and download speeds are about 25-30% lower than I had with dd-wrt Asus RT-ac68u, but the client connections are again stable.
