Hello,

I have a WRT54G v3.1 with v24 preSP2 (Build13064).
My connection is 20Mbps/2Mbps cable modem.

If I plug my computer directly on the cable modem I get at least 17Mbps. When I use the linksys router through WIFI (G only) I only get between 8 Mbps and 10Mbps.

Should I be able to get more or should I change router?

I tried a bunch of different security settings, cpu overclocking, change frequency, ...

Hey guys,

I have flashed my WRT54G2v1.0 with dd-wrt.v24-10709_NEWD_micro;

Everything went fine and works good, except low speed;

Direct cabled to my laptop gives me about: 80-100Mbps;
Router before flash through cable gave me: 60-80Mbps;
Router after flash through cable gives me: maxx 36Mbps;

Wifi speed is the same as before limited to 16-20Mbps;

I have tried all the configurations, QoS is disabled, no change in speed at all. Is there anything I can do to reach my 100Mbps with ddwrt flashed router?

@dynex - see my sig.

@drioo - The CPU in that router is too slow to route any faster. You'll need a model with a 400+ MHz CPU to handle routing at 100mbps. The WRT320N, WRT610N v2, and RT-N16 are a few such models. See the supported devices wiki page for a full list.

Also, G spec is limited to ~20mbps throughput so if you want any faster on wireless then you need to move your clients up to N spec as well.

Hmm, but why router could receive 100mbits before flashing?

Stock firmware has better throughput, but you said yourself that it was only 60-80mbps with stock.

Yeah, ~80mbps before, but not 36mpbs as with ddwrt. So the conlusion is that I have fucked up my router with ddwrt. Lol.

And how I have read here that the reverse is not possible.. Right?
