Soemthing else has to be going on here, It doesn't look like the PC, is taking the static address of 192.168.1.2, even though you are pinging you own address, the reply should be coming from 192.168.1.2 not 169.254.50.22.
Do you have all other ethernet interfaces disabled _________________ Want JTAG support - Donate a router

Yes, I understand, but I was thinking that he did the ipconfig /all after he changed it back so he could post on the internet, he needed to give ipconfig /all while the computer was configured with a static address of 192.168.1.2
Can you try changing it to a static IP again, try 192.168.1.5, then run ipconfig /all, if ipconfig /all does not report 192.168.1.5 then you have not set the PC's IP address to 192.168.1.5.
PC, is this XP, Vista, what ? _________________ Want JTAG support - Donate a router

It is a must to have an IP in the same subnet as the router, whether it is by static or other means. _________________ WHR-HP-G54 running DD-WRT v24 VPN build 14896

I wish I knew also. Every time I try, the internet doesn't work. I'm following this guide:
For now, just forget the internet and the modem. You should be connected only to the router's LAN port. After you've flashed and configured the router, you set your IP back to DHCP. _________________ WHR-HP-G54 running DD-WRT v24 VPN build 14896

I would love to do that, believe me. But I can't flash the router without a static IP. And I can't set this damned IP to static; I've even called my ISP and they can't help. This is what it looks like:
I don't understand what your ISP has to do with anything. As I already said, forget about your internet for now.
That screenshot shows your IP set to static so what exactly doesn't work?
With your IP set to static, connect to the router's LAN port.
Turn off your router.
Open a CMD prompt and ping -t 192.168.1.1
Turn on your router.
You should eventually get some replies from the router.
Can you do that? _________________ WHR-HP-G54 running DD-WRT v24 VPN build 14896

Alright. I've updated the firmware on the router with vxworkskiller whatever whatever. I did everything right up to this point. Now, it says to tftp the other file in. First off. No idea how to do that. Opened up the command prompt, positive i'm doing it wrong. So, long story short, no power light on the router, no wlan light, but I have a light on indicating that a cable is plugged into slot 1. So. What I need to know is.
EXACTLY what to enter into the command prompt, when to do it, and what to do after.
