It appears that the tftp flash has failed :(

When using tftp2.exe the dialouge box appears and states "Erasing flash (This may take some time)" it then times out.
Occasionaly it will try and erase the flash a second time but it again times out.

I do not have any legacy ports on my PC, so the Jtag guides are not of much use.
Could anyone proved any links to DIY usb Jtag's?
Or can a mobile phone data cables be used?
I have heard that the nokia DKU-5 can be used as a usb jtag once the connector is cut off.

Or would something like the item below be more appropriate?, even though it costs 5 times as much as the DKU-5

http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/ftdichip?productID=53&op=catalogue-product_info-null&prodCategoryID=47

Thanks in advance

The GL are easy to flash. Flash mini, then std, directly from the GUI.

Be sure to hard reset before and after each flash is completed.

You can even go back to original firmware if by some slim chance you don't like dd-wrt.

yes, but I see no reason to hold back flashing the GL. He can still work on the WGR as a secondary dd-wrt router. Maybe even donate it to be returned.

To clear it up, no I haven't flashed the wrt54gl.
Its running fine at the moment and as it lives in the roof space of my house its a bit more difficult to get to on a whim.

I have seen the links to the Jtag articles, however my PC does not have any serial or parrallel ports, so I need a USB solution.

I previously posted a link to a USB jtag cable, is this one suitable?

If the worst comes to the worst I would donate the router so some one could get it working, as long as i could get it returned, but I would like to give it a go myself first.

Thansk for all the info and input so far

Sorry, would this be done once I have managed to flash the device?

Sorry for my ignorance

Thx again

No, with original firmware, so we can see if it's running linux or vxworks.

Hi
I have a Netgear WGR614v6
and theres a chip labeled

MX T053019
29LVB00CTTC-90
2M222300A2

Also one labeled
SAMSUNG 537
K4S641632H-TC75

Does that mean I have 2M of flash memory?

and also
I have a usb -> serial and serial -> parallel adapter (the serial -> parallel adapter came with it). Can I use that as a JTAG interface?

btw, google search says that this router uses vxworks
