Hey m8, thankyou lots for that reply!!

Can you answer couple more things, if you dont mind,

which are pinouts for
gnd, 3.3v, tx, rx? (I can probly work these out with multimeter though right?)

With serial console access is it possible to make dump of flash (perhaps way to read address byte for byte and write little script to record output? I know this is possible with similar type broadcom based device with console access, although not always reliable method)

Finally I dont have spare router of this to donate right now, but I have means to share relevant info with the router I have so as progress can be made on this front,

I have means to have the chip (mx flash) lifted, read and replaced, so I can have a dump of entire original flash, and test various flash files you can give me. It will be couple of days from now but I can get that done.

If you can help me I just not sure of everything that is going on here, I have a lot of reading to do round here to get on point, ontop of any real work I have to do lol!

What is issue regards VxWorks? makes it a problem? or there is already solution for this? Things like this I dont know about I am sorry, but the simple stuff lol I can help.

Well I am using an AD233AK Max233A adapter kit that I purchased from here.

From the AD233AK Max233A adapter to the router I have it wired like so:

AD233AK - Router
5v - Pin 1
Ground - Pin 11
RX - Pin 3
TX - Pin 9

thanks for the help so far,

Hooked up serial port and went through all commands but doesnt really look like anything can be done via terminal,

Maybe if I hook it up weblive the output will reveal more options? doubt it heh,

There is the "dump" command but when I try it it seems to do nothing, although mabe if I have ethernet hooked it might do something? I'll try that anyway

guess we stuck for now huh

So I guess I'll get ma matey to remove/read/dump the flash chip then, and play around with some DD-wrt flashes,

If I can directly program a flash file to the MX chip what files should I try? (I reckon I got about 4 or 5 goes before the pads start to deteriorate)

Thanks

Well with a 2mb flash, you would need to use the micro build.

Thankyou, I thought there would be many more different flashes, I notice some for other netgear specific models, but for me testing use broadcom generic micro build here right?

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/v24-sp1/Consumer/Broadcom%20Generic/micro/dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin

Also, is any need for some "vxWorksKiller" or no need when using full flash?

And as a guess, what problems can u imagine me incurring with flashing this file straight onto my chip when I put it back on and fire it up? Could you forsee anything, or is it just a case of try it and see?

Thanks for your help m8 Wink

The chip on the right is the flash chip.

Unforunatley this is a 1Mb flash chip.

The micro builds need 2Mb of flash.

Thanks a lot.
Since it works poor, I seems I should give it up, and get a new one.
