I'm running DD-WRT v24 sp1 on a WRT160n.
I'm exploring DNSMasq and the local DNS option to replace my current setup of having to edit host files. That's the only way I've been able to resolve names from IP's on my network.
I need two static DHCP leases (server and print server). But when I add then apply, it the majority of my network. I'm only able to undo the changes through my hardwired server.
In the end I got it to work. The issue was I forgot to remove the prior host file entries. I'm not sure of the Windows naming/IP resolution hierarchy, but the host file was being called before DNS.
On the other PC's that didn't need host file editing, a simple restart of that computer got it using the new DNS server on dd-wrt.
