Hey guys,
I have a problem with my WHR-G300N. One day out of nowhere wifi was gone. I tried to restore and downgrade to different versions, but it appears that only 030309 works. Ethernet is working fine and control page shows "Radio On". I tried
Set it to "G only" and rotate your router until signal is valid. (or distance clients)
Same problem with devices just separated with a wall.
I played with power many times on both sides, but no effect.
I solved the problem by changing antennas directions, and rotating the WHN by 45°.
Seems the problem is with the internal antennas.
In my case, the devices in question were <10 feet away from the router and not separated by a wall.
I found that the router performed worse with with 802.11n or in mixed mode. When using 802.11g/b (no N) it worked flawlessly. My test consisted of continuous ping (1 sec) and tracking the ping times over a period of 12 hours.
When the router was operating in 802.11b/g mode, the router dropped 0.001% of all packets and averaged <1 ms ping time.
When the router was operating in 802.11n mode, it ran fine for a few minutes, then dropped 25% of packets, and averaged 400ms ping time (for the packets that weren't dropped).
I called Buffalo's tech support and they are sending me a replacement.

I had the exact same experience. I was still using the official firmware at that time.
I was testing a MacBook (Early 2008) and a MacBook Pro (Unibody).
The MacBook Pro have no problems at all. However, the MacBook is a different story. It would drop packets and results in long ping times. The weird thing is this happens only if the MBP is also on the network. It work flawlessly if the router is connected only to the MacBook.
No such luck for me. I tried wireless and direct connect on a MacBook, MacBook Pro, and a PowerBook G4. All experienced the same problem over the Wireless.
Buffalo approved my RMA request; I will be sending the device back tomorrow.
These past two weeks have been very busy, and I forgot to send my Buffalo in for RMA. I thought I'd give it one more try with a different firmware version that I had tried before: March 3, 2009.
I am happy to report that the router has been stable for a week in 802.11n wide channel mode (300Mbps). Previously, I'd be lucky to see good performance for >15 minutes.
I still have a bricked WHR-G300N waiting to be send back for repaired.
The router was working well with DD-WRT for weeks before. It happened there was a new released firmware which I wanna to upgrade. But right after I pressed the reset button the router was bricked.
Just a word of caution here, if it ain't break, dun fix it!
Well I have used it on my WRT54G for years, then it finally broke in a lightning storm. I bought this on Newegg because a lot of people say this is great for dd-wrt, so I was really hoping to do it with this router.
I just hear a lot of mixed reports about what version to use and which way to flash it.

030309 is the latest working build that works for the WHR-G300N
Best and only method that worked for me - TFTP flash
The wiki tells you how to flash it
You have 2 seconds to catch it - so you have to be quick _________________ Soylent Green Is People !
