I just bought a wrt160N router to replace my aging wrt54g (also I think dying wrt54g) and I immediately installed dd-wrt firmware after reading about how great it is. I have a computer plugged directly into the router and two others on wireless and the two that are on the wireless experience significantly slower internet connection and I have no idea why. I am using WPA2 Personal for encryption and when I run a speedtest on my wired computer I get 18000 kbps, on the wireless I am lucky if I get 7000 kbps. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue and what I can do to fix it?
I had a similar experience with a Netgear WNR834B (with dd-wrt) that I have replaced with a DG834G (original netgear firmware) and I have noticed an increase of the wireless performance by 2 times.
I am planning to go back to original firmware on the WNR to do a test
