I am using WPA2/PSK AES at home. My client PCs have XP Pro SP3, Vista Ultimate SP1 and OpenSUSE 11.

If I list the available APs, I sometimes see my DIR-300 router being listed as WEP instead of WPA2. After a while it reappears as WPA2.

I suppose this is not normal.

Here´s the nvram contents with password fields removed. I am switching to WEP encryption which apparently works fine.

Should I add this issue to Trac or is this the correct place to get support?

Thanks in advance

The AP is telling the clients it uses WEP (not true) instead of WPA2/PSK. Windows WZCS and Linux Network Manager are not prompting for the correct encryption keys. Same thing for the Netgear WG311v3 utility.

If I set the crypto params manually, it works.

I have switched over to WEP (yuck) until this is resolved.

I think I should have bought a Broadcom based router instead of this Atheros 4 MB POS.

It is not very probable that Linux NetworkManager, Vista Wireless Configuration, and the Netgear Util all have the same problem.

XR and SuperG are Atheros extensions. I have disabled them to check if it makes any difference but apparently it does not.

This is still happening in v24 pre-sp2 10/07/08 test build released yesterday.

It is easy to reproduce because it happens all the time now, lol.

It is broadcasting WPA2 now. Uptime is 23 hours. WTF is going on? WEP - WPA2 - WEP - WPA2. Really crazy behaviour. And it's not the clients.

Follow-up on this issue:

This problem reappeared, so I reset to default values and reconfigured for WPA2/PSK/AES. It has been working ok for the last 20 hours. Finger crossed, otherwise I will revert to factory firmware because I will NOT use WEP.

Same here -- except my Airlink AR430W says in the status and settings that it is WPA2 Personal Mixed but the client says there is no encryption at all and a number of leeches are connecting to my AP now.

+1

Same thing here again after 24 hours. The DIR300 v24pre-sp2 web ui shows WPA2/PSK/AES, but the clients say there is no encryption at all. If I ssh into the DIR300 and do iwconfig, it shows that ath0 is is master mode, and that encryption is off.
