Hi all
This is a great fw but for the life of me i can't get kaid working. I've followed the wiki and searched forums for my problems but to no avail..

I can start kai and navigate (using xbmc) chat, etc, etc but i can't see any games when i load up and enter multiplayer

my setup is Cable Modem (wired) WRT54GL (wired) Xbox

xbmc is primary dashboard and set up all networks settings according to wiki
and i'm using ddwrt v24 (30/8/06)

HyperWRT thibor 15c and Kai Script worked first time but i like ddwrt and prefer that..

Been using kai on the pc for a couple of years now so i know that works, just can't get it with ddwrt........

Please,Please Help me
p.s. Cable Modem is just that no router no nat

Ok i've tried different versions of ddwrt and all are doing the same so i'm obviously missing something (probably something simple) if any one got kai working with v24 could you please tell me your settings, i've double checked the wiki and all my settings are the same but it just can't see any games under system link....

i've tried turning off all firewalls (no luck)
tried xbox ip to static and dhcp (no luck)
tried tinkering with settings in ddwrt (no luck)

do i have to edit kaid.conf? from what i read i shouldn't but hey....
and also i have no portforwardings active (under upnp) when kai is running..
do i need to activate upnp in xbmc (just added in the last month or so) my build of xbmc is 3rd Sept 2006

please anyone......

No luck brother already tried that....almost ready to give up and go back to thibor but i really really don't want to do that...

Dd-WRT gives me the best signal when i use pimpstreamer on my psp (perfect video no lag) so you see i'd like to stick with it....

Just thought I'd let you know that I was able to get this working using SP2, but it doesn't seem to be as stable as running the engine on a PC. The problem I run into is that XBMC often (VERY often) can't "see" the engine and I have to stop/restart it. This doesn't happen when using the PC engine.

I used the WIKI to get things set up, but I also ran setup from the MS dash for the network settings (don't know if this helped, but seemed to). No need to do any manual edits to kaid.conf or anything else for that matter.

Seems strange you can see everything from the dash but not while running the game. I assume you did go into an arena for the game you wanted to play before launching the game?

I haven't tried with V24 yet, but I am running the 8/30 build. If I get a chance, I'll try this later and report back.

Well, it looks like there may be a problem with the new DD-WRT builds and kaid. I tried using the 8/30 v24 beta and had the same results as you - everything appears to be working fine, but launch a game and nothing shows up. I didn't get a chance to load an old SP2 version to verify that still works. I believe the last version I successfully used was the 8/3 build of SP2.

Thank you Lightspeed for confirming

I've got no worries running Kaid 7.0.0.4 from the router (downloading via webserver or via ftp from xbox hard drive) but i've run into heaps of trouble running 7.0.0.7 even without dd-wrt...

when i install kaid 7007 to the router myself and try to run it, it's keeps saying kaid.conf error can't access from /etc directory, ive tried to copy it there but it's read only so maybe it's a kai bug and nothing to do with dd-wrt???????????
When i have v24 running, i,ve checked via telnet to see if it's running and it has the same error. But i can see "Kaid.conf" instead of "Gokaid" when i list the processess

I'll piss fart around with SP2 and see what happens....

Thanks again mate i owe you a beer or ten

C'mon Xlink One

Thanx LightSpeed v23 sp2 8/1 did the trick (it's running kaid 7.0.0.6) did'nt do anything from the wiki just enabled kai and was in first go
i must of been running later versions of sp2 in my testing

Hopefully a new build of dd-wrt will be released (after researching i don't think it's kai) with this fixed up but in the meantime this will do....until it resets so much that i can't be bothered and run the engine from the pc again

Thanx again

No problem - glad I could help... a little. Keep me posted on how this works out for you - like I said, I didn't have much luck with it lasting long.

So does anyone out there have any build of v23 or v24 built after 3 august 06 have kaid running and working fully? (kaid 7.0.0.7)

I'm not sure but i thinks there are some issues here with the recent kai update..

None of the builds after 8/3 i've tried works, tried half a dozen

Just do the SD mod and install dd-wrt standard without Kai(15 minutes). Then install Kai. Mine works perfectly.
I never got disconected.

If you want I can post here how to do it if you want.
I'm using wrt54GL v1.1

If you have enought memory, you can even extract the file that I'll be posting on jffs partition. (you need around 400k).

PS. I'll post the file later.

Here it is.
Copy attached file to your /tmp dir.
After that, write: tar -C /mmc -xz -f /tmp/kaixlink.tgz
than: chmod 777 /mmc/etc/config/kaid.startup

Than edit /mmc/kaid/kaid.conf using vi editor. Replace the lines with: username, password, with your real username and your real password (the one you use on your router)

Don't touch anything else.

Now reboot your router.

Go to xbmc, enter your username, password and ip of your router., reboot xbox also.

your are done. This works for sure.
Mine never disconnects.

Sorry about late post Sad I've been working ..

PS. I'm using wrt54GL v1.1 with DD-WRT v23 sp2
Install DD-WRT firmware without kai, after that folow my instructions.
