UPDATE: Please read entire thread. There is a newer revision of SP2 (not yet released) that has it enabled, with a few *issues* left to resolve. But an older version 10431 seems to have it stable (some bugs have been introduced since Sept 26/08's build, see page 2).

wrt600n v1.1 man: 01/2008
dd-wrt-mega SP1 dated Jun 27, 2008

Is there no wideband (40Mhz channel) support for N yet? There are no options for those channels in the dropdown(s), and I only connect at 130 Mbps. Tried searching a bit and didn't come up with anything (except the 250+ reply thread we all know and love). I figured this warranted its own thread.

The flash was quirky as well. After a 30/30/30 reset, I tried flashing with the "mini" kernel, only to get to 17% and Linksys would report a "Failed" message. Tried it numerous times, another 30/30/30, etc. No go. I tried the mega firmware, and still only got to 17%. I also tried flashing to the latest firmware on Linksys' site, and tried mini and mega again - no go! Only gets to 17%.

So I tried the STD firmware and it went completely through! After it completely, i went into dd-wrt and was able to flash it to the Mega. Very odd.

I see the blinking power-light is a known issue that doesn't mean anything.

There is a bug in wlconf i think:
Code:
if (nvram_match(strcat_r(prefix, "net_mode", tmp),"b-only") ||  nvram_match(strcat_r(prefix, "net_mode", tmp),"g-only") || nvram_match(strcat_r(prefix, "net_mode", tmp),"a-only") ||  nvram_match(strcat_r(prefix, "net_mode", tmp),"bg-mixed") ||  nvram_match(strcat_r(prefix, "net_mode", tmp),"mixed"))

                val = 20;

In mixed mode nbw is set to 20 (MHz) (rev 10561)

Eko, sorry for the offtopic, but why bandwidth is set to 20mhz in mixed mode (i mean the channel fix)?

Where you guys getting these newer revisions? Straight from their svn repository? I cannot compile the source, so is there another location of where the nightly snapshots (compiled) are uploaded?

I looked at v24 and v24 sp1, which point to the same bin dated back on July 27, 2008. Hitting the "about" within the GUI shows "SVN revision 10012". You guys are talking 10561 and 10776 revisions.

K I flashed and set the wireless to n-only still connected at 130 but then I went back in and selected 40mhz for the channel width and it went up to 270.

Where did you get his revision? I tried searching the forums, but didn't see any topics on that.

(IMAGES: phpBB issue, you may need to hit REFRESH in your browser to see the inline images below).

Thanks Eko. I now have Wideband and connected at 270Mbps (when laptop is closer, see images below).

Hopefully you are aware of the quirks remaining (Note that I have wl0 (2.4Ghz radio) set to DISABLED (off), and am only using the 5.8Ghz radio):

^- In the image above, I show the configuration issues with selection the wide channel.

http://eduncan911.com/downloads/ddwrt-eko-wireless-issues.png

^- In this image, you can see the Status -> Wireless issues such as site survey, Wireless shown as disabled, etc.

I am, in fact, typing this message connected at 270Mbps over the wireless - so we know the wireless is enabled. Perhaps it is reading the settings of (wl0) instead of (wl0 || wl1).

I noticed the July 27th, 2008 build of v24 SP1 actually took into either/or the state of the each wireless adapter. I also noticed these quirks were in the earlier versions of v24 before it was FINAL.

Are you using an old kernel for these updates? Would it be benificial to create .patch files for your changes, so that the team can apply them to the trunk?

I hope, for everyone's sake, that you hard reset the router to defaults before and after flashing Eko's new build??

I always do and I am seeing the same bugs that are listed above on my WRT600N...along with blinking LEDs etc. There are lots of bugs to work out for the WRT600N and I hope the devs are working on them. With each new build it gets better and better....

Yep, always do (which is a PITA cause I have VPN, custom route tables, wifi, dhcp, etc all setup).

You said it bro! I donated $20 several years ago for my WRT54G v3.1 (the premo version), and it is still sitting in the closet with v23 stable - living oh so happy.

I have my finger on a $50 donation, if the wrt600n's bugs are worked out (been waiting almost a solid year, Jan 2008). Maybe it is a "pay now, get it later" thing? Smile

Dunno. I have to set my WAN to Clone MAC address to trick my ISP, which mutes the issue you may be experiencing. We are also using a November SP2 build, not v24 SP1's last July final build.

I would recommend starting a new topic on that subject. Too many threads here steer into a different direction because they get OT (Off [the] Topic [in the Subject Line]). This makes it very difficult to search on, as phpBB is not linear enough to show you the actual forum post.

This thread is for getting Wide Channel support. Smile
