Following this guide: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1009864#1009864

I managed to successfully follow this all the way through Step 6, after issuing the mtd commands in the SSH session. When I rebooted (and yes I watched a clock while I held in the WPS button for 60secs), the router reverted back to stock Linksys firmware...

But even more frustrating, I have not been able to even flash to the super-hacky-smaller image at all since! I've re-followed all the instructions several times, including attempting to downgrade stock firmware to v1.0.99 (which never worked the first go-round but I always still attempt it).

Even though I flash stock firmware twice and then successfully TFTP the super-hacky image to the router, after it reboots again it goes back to the stock image, factory-resetted.

The router isn't bricked, but it also reboots at least 2x in between firmware installs and factory resets, which I'm pretty sure it didn't do the first go-round, but I'm not 100% sure.

Is my CVE or nvram file messed up after the first almost-successful attempt? I have the originals backed up but can't figure out how to get a serial cxn to the device. Do I have to open it up and somehow attach the serial plug directly on-board? It isn't working with my Serial to Ethernet adapter, which I know works on my Cisco ASA...

Crying or Very sad I was so close.....[/i]

24-hr bump.

I read through all the Announcements, I'm pretty sure I didn't fall into reasons 1, 2, or 3 about why no one has responded yet Laughing

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2015/08-20-2015-r27700/linksys-ea6300/ <- first build I've found in the repository.

There is some conflicting information (see Supported Devices link), it seems there is the EA6300, and EA6300 V1. Probably needed to figure out which one you have. I'll probably get chastised for possible misinformation, BUT, that is the info I've found. The forum topic at the top of my reply has some discussion that may be of use on which build to try.

Yes I've confirmed mine is the EA6300v1, which according to the build guide I linked in my OP, is actually the exact same as the EA6400. And the Super Hacky Build for the EA6300v1 is actually labeled 6400.

So according to your first thread, the information seems to be pretty conflicting... The guy used EA6350 fw and it worked on his 6300v1?? And someone else on there referenced ea6500 fw... Not sure what to make of any of that.

On the SDL for ea6300v1, it says the recommended build is 08/20/2015, but all the wikis and sticky's and everything here says not to deviate from the official build guide that I referenced in my OP...... Really don't want to brick my router by using a wrong image.

Can I get more confirmation for trying a different build other than what it says in the ea6300 guide?

I'm not 100% familiar with the device, but you could look through the build threads and search the forum and see if there is anything of interest. That's about the extent of anything I know to tell you.

Only other option is Tomato or FreshTomato, but it has the same kind of process to get it to flash 3rd party firmware:

http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/guide-flash-linksys-ea6300v1-ea6400-ea6500v2-ea6700-ea6900v1-0-1-1-with-tomato.73877/

Not sure if that guide will help you any further or not, but it's possible as it does mention DD-WRT.
