userID and password for allware firmware upgrade?

I just installed the dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.aapng.20070822RC1b.bin which I downloaded from www.allware.cl/rbertuzzi/DD-WRT. (I cant find any later versions of DD-WRT which will work with my Buffalo WBR2-G54S which include OpenAP and nobody answered my questions on whether a possibly later Linksys one will work with a Buffalo so I thought I would play it safe and install it with a generic one)

Now the firmware is installed, the admin page opens as properly installed but wont accept the userID ROOT and the password USER or any combination of the two in upper or lower case. Doing a full router reset doesnt work either. I have both ethernet cables and wireless connected to this router to cover all my bases??

Is there some other common password which is supposed to work in this situation and where the bin file dates back as far as August 2007 please?

(oh and it doesnt work on its defaults as an openAP REPEATER)

dd-wrt password default is admin, not user.
