is there any to use UPNP with static ip's? or am i stuck having to do port forwards?

UPnP relies on DHCP? That's news to me.

In that case setup a static IP using DHCP.

UPnP is unrelated to DHCP, so UPnP should work just as good with static IPs than DHCP ones...

That's what I thought.

So josh is probably just another user suffering from the UPnP bugs in dd-wrt.

upnp is for home network, not for internet. why do u need forward?

What's that supposed to mean? UPnP in router is exactly that, automatic port forwarding system... Tough UPnP can be used for other things like easing usage of portable players etc, but this is out of the scope of this issue...

While I wouldn't call my experience definitive, I was unable to ever get UPnP working without DHCP. This was both for routers running dd-wrt and for routers running stock (Netgear) firmware. I was never able to get UPnP to work with DHCP off. I didn't try that hard to get it working, but I was unable to get it working with any of the obvious things that I tried.
