Did you lave the 'xx' there instead of appropriate digits?

Offcourse not Shocked Shocked
It was a real MAC address and serial number of my router.

I attempted revert on my V5... Mac A and Mac B were correctly set but Mac C was not derived from those macs... any idea why? I get a strange mac address for my wireless interface.

I got the same message. I'll send Jeremy an IM and see what's up.

OK - I've been lurking long enough (and my router is so slow/ inadequate that I am ready for the risk of this upgrade).

I am very grateful to those here who have done all the work to define the "fix" for these pos routers from Linksys - even if I brick my router and do not post here again.

It's actually very easy. Read the instructions carefully, prepare your software ahead of time, go slowly and it should work just fine. I've done enough of them that I don't need the instructions anymore and can be done in about 4-5 minutes. I've yet to have any trouble with one. I think those that have problems are in a hurry, not following the instructions, using the wrong software, etc. Good luck with it!!

Hello,

Does exsist a way to debrick wrt54gs v5 using JTAG ?

On the bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5%5FCFE site in the manual reversion section is written "doing testing".

regards,
job

Thank you very much db90h and BrainSlayer for your excellent job!

I have 2 WRT54G v5 that were losing their configuration and returning to factory defauts. It was nothing related to heavy loads or loss of power. That continue to happen even with the newest version of that piece of junk of the VxWorks firmware.

I was aboult to throw them off my window when I found you guys. I did all the procedures and everything went flawlessly! Now they are up for more than 2 weeks under heavy load absolutely with no problems!

[]'s from South America and sorry for the bad English Very Happy !

I need help , I just bricked my WRT54G v5

I updated my DD-WRT to latest firmware which I got it from http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/dd-wrt.v23/SP2/micro

In the process of updating , it says failed but that time my internet everything is still working fine. The true nightmare begun when I restart my router. Now my power LED is blinking , network activity stable , sometimes do blink.

Help me !! Sad

Agreed.

Please be sure to read and understand the whole process before doing anything!

From what you are saying your router is not bricked, it is waiting for a TFTP Firmware transfer. Give the Wiki a try!

I finally got around to tracking down why OpenWrt would brick WRT54GS v5.x units. It's been fixed now in OpenWrt and a reversion firmware is available (though consider this ALPHA):

For information on the OpenWrt incompatibility see: http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=7597

For the GS reversion firmware download: http://www.bitsum.com/files/vxrevert_manual_gs_v06.zip

To use: TFTP the TRX, or flash the BIN with the web UI. Telnet in after reboot and follow instructions.

Note that I've also added support to bsptool for setting the THIRD mac address in the BOOTP block.
