I managed to pick up an old one of these WGR614 v6 and the flash chip has:

MXS053011
29LV8008TTC-90
2M273200

I'm hoping the 2M means two megs.

But if so how do I go about trying to flash it?

I just tried to simply tftp the dd-wrt.v24-11762_NEWD_micro onto it but it didn't work. Where is the cfe image I should use for it and into what form should I compress it?

Thanks!

Edit:
Ok I followed the instructions from over here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=44439&highlight=wgr614v6

and managed to telnet in and get these results:

U12H04200 show> flashshow

This is an unprotected flash.

Hi,
These is the info from the flash chip of my netgear wgr614 v6 router:

MXM061219
29LV800CTTC-90G
20435400
Taiwan

Can someone tell me whether or not it has 2 mb of ram? I am hoping I can flash it so I could put dd-wrt micro on this.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it wasn't 1 mb Sad I will just get the 2 mb chip and then follow the procedure to get it working.

Hi there.

I have one of these routers, WGR614v6. I'm looking for a project to do.
I have not yet had the chance to crack it open to inspect the chip size, however I'm very keen to have a go at it, even if I need to solder on a bigger chip.

Since I am a novice, and have searched the whole DD-WRT forum for instructions on how this procedure is and well let's say it's beyond me.

I was hoping that maybe one of the guru's that have successfully got it to work could give a detailed instruction on how to go about upgrading the firmware on these things.

From which chip to actually take off and replace and which programs needed to upload firmware (I've played around with tftp for pxe a bit before)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

VB,

Alright it looks like I might only have the 1MB flash chip.

My MX chip says

29LV800CTTC-90

My next question is where can I get a 2MB one to put on there? Does it have to be 2MB, can it be bigger???

so pretty much if you have a wgr614 you have to do modding to get dd-wrt on it?

I just got a v6 with 2MB flash for free. I want to put DD-WRT micro on it. Is there any way of putting it on without soldering? If not anyone here interested in it?

The person that did get it working, he flashed a CFE on his replacement chip with a chip programmer. Currently there is no way to do it with the web interface or tftp.

Not sure which pins you are talking about, but the 12-pin header on the WGR614v6 is for serial:

They are not pins, just 6 little copper pads in the rolls on the back (about 1/16 of an inches diameter). you need to add 4 4.7k pull up resistor to RP1 and 0.1k to R23. I got my running with latest ddwrt, but like "myacct" said, there are couple problems. a) WAN and LAN port 4 need to swap in vlan tab. b) The reset button did not work, I use gpio poll x to test but none of poll test responds all show 01 on press or not. BS and Sash had any other idea? Thank
