Umm... why would EKO want to waste his time with my router? Is there nothing else I can try before involving other people in this?

Maybe this router needs pin one (1) pulled up with 3.3V via a 100 ohm resister????

I ran into this in a netgear (I think)..

Hello,

I got my USB-Serial-TTL cable and connected it, and here's the console output: (also available here)

This router is running linux already so there's a chance it will run DD-WRT you can give it a shot if you don't mind having to recover it to the stock firmware in case you brick it. You could try an Eko 12548 mini build and see what happens. BUT... this is on you not me if it doesn't work. After all, you are the one who has to hit the button to flash the firmware. Wink

Hello all, sorry I started this and left it hanging. I was out of country and just got back. Looks like some progress was made but no answer as to the outcome did this work or not. I just wanted to know if I should spend some time working on it or give up and move on.

I guess it could be done. I just need some more details to add detection. So with serial console give me:

nvram get boardnum
nvram get boardrev
nvram get boardtype
nvram get lan_ifnames
nvram get wan_ifname

and

ifconfig

I'll see what I can do. I am starting over so I will need to hit Radio Shack after work on day this week. I gave my JTAG cable to a friend before I deployed so now I will need to make a new one.

I started putting together my JTAG cable when I realized I have no idea what the pin outs are for the J6 connector. I found this link http://ddwrt.com/wiki/index.php/Serial_port_pinouts with a photo of the board and pin outs but I don’t know what pins on the JTAG to connect the TX, RX, and VCC to. Does anyone have any ideas?

Jtag and serial are different. The pict you have has labeled the serial port, not the jtag port. Jtag cable will not work on a serial port. You need a serial connection.

See the links at the end of note 6 of the peacock announcement, up top, for much more info on both.

Sorry for the delay but I had to order the serial TTL converter. With any luck I should have it in the next two weeks.

Update:
Ok I was board and didn’t feel like waiting for the TTL so I tried to TFTP the “Eko 12548 mini build” and see what would happen as Mordak had suggested earlier. Everything seemed to work perfectly and the router has been running for about 30 minutes now. I am going to set it up as a client and bridge my xbox 360 to my lan. I’ll keep you posted and when the serial converter comes in I will upload the info you requested.

Well it is up and working. I am using the bridge right now to update this page and it is as fast as ever. I will keep testing it and get back with you on what I come up with. So far the only issue is the reset button doesn't work, at all...

Update:
It works perfectly, in fact it is so much better than it was when I started it is hard to beleave it is the same router. DD-WRT ROCKS!!!

Ok I was board again and thought I would try getting the info you needed over the LAN using HyperTerminal. I thought of the idea after reading the following guide: http://www.wrtrouters.com/guides/monitoring/

I put in all the commands you requested and had the data exported to a text document. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Update:
It should noted that HyperTerminal client was not included as part of Microsoft Windows Vista or 7. You can go to a third party version if you would like but I prefer the version in Windows XP. I used the instructions at the following link to setup Microsoft’s HyperTerminal on my MS Vista laptop and it worked perfectly: http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-install-windows-xp-hyperterminal-client-on-windows-7-or-vista-for-free/#comment-519974

If you like the cool little icons that Microsoft originally provided with HyperTerminal then you will also need a copy of the hticons.dll file in addition to the hypertrm.dll and hypertrm.exe files. I have all 3 files zipped down and can attach them if you would like.

Well I have added a couple of heat sinks (1 on the BCM4322 and 1 on the BCM4703) and bumped the Tx up to 84mW. The heat sinks probably weren’t needed but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.

The router has been setup as a bridge and has been running perfectly for over 2 days non-stop. I did a download test and downloaded several Gigs of info onto my XBOX360 over a couple of hours. This test as well as some others with my laptop have gone very well.

I must say the router is much faster and more stable now with dd-wrt than it ever was with the original firmware. The original firmware would have never made it this long without a reset.

Do you have everything you need to add detection?

I will make you new mini with added detection for your router.
Then try to find gpios for buttons and leds.

Please also do cfe backup and send it to me.
