I was wondering if anyone has been successful with the dd-wrt x86 intstall on an Alix 2c2. It seems that if I keep my ubiquity atheros card in the system it will kernel panic and reboot. If I take the card out it simply hangs.
To confirm the installation process that I took was just to dd the OS image onto the flash card. I'm currently running fine with FreeBSD on the same system so I know the hardware is functioning correctly.
Already on the latest version of the Bios. Was there anything past using dd to write the image to the disk required for the installation? I've done this before with a bunch of other distros and they all worked fine. Like I said currently it works flawlessly with Freebsd 7.
I'm having this exact problem on an Alix 3D3 board with a Ubiquiti SR2 card. It boots up, and kernel panics (reboots immediately so I can't see much debug info). If I take the ubnt card out, it boots, but just hangs at "gethostbyname: Network is unreachable".
I'm not really sure what is going on, but I bought a pro license because the wiki said Alix boards were supported. It doesn't seem to be working.
And why does it kernel panic when my Ubiquiti SR2 card is in? Should the SR2 work with DD-WRT? But again, when it isn't it it doesn't panic, it just hangs.
It isn't a hw fault; I just bought the board, and every other distro works perfectly fine except for DD-WRT. I see many other people on the forum having this exact problem, with similar and different hardware. Do you have any useful suggestions which leverage your knowledge of the software and what bugs it may have? I'm using DD-WRT on my wrt54g2 and like it and want to support you by purchasing a full copy for my alix board, but if this is the type of support I will receive then forget it. I'll stick to using Linux, which actually works!
I'm not running off serial, I'm running off VGA. Do you have any suggestions as to what a good way would be to capture the output?
This is a 3D3 -- the 2C0 has a different BIOS, different processor, no VGA, und so weiter. Is your claim of supporting Alix boards based off the success of the 2C0, or have all of them been tested?
