I want to be able to store korean and chinese files on my ext3 HD. Is this possible under DD-WRT? I'm still researching this code page stuff, but if anyone has any experience I'm all ears... _________________ WRT350N Eko Mega 11296 + HDsamba2 v4 beta
I think its got something to do with code page settings in samba.
Have you tried to access/store files through FTP or WinSCP for comparison.
At one point SlimSamba2 did not have any code-page files included, and it was difficult to get the right portugise letters working.
I also seem to have come across a discussion where someone complained that samba3 now has three different ways to handle code pages (as far as I could gather samba2 only has two ways).
Don't know anything about how the ext3 filesystem handels alphabets. I think Uni Code definitions are the modern way of handling alphabets.

Well, my research so far has suggested that the file system is kind of irrelevant.
This version of linux should support unicode, so it's just a matter of configuring samba 2 to use the right code page... this is not so straight forward... will keep looking... _________________ WRT350N Eko Mega 11296 + HDsamba2 v4 beta
For example, I have this file: /mnt/data/cão.docx
When I go to file by telnet or by FTP, the file appears perfectly, but if I go by windows share it appears like: "cπo.docx"
I have tried to add to smb.conf those lines:
Quote:
character set = ISO8859-1
client code page = 850
There were some improvements because the file id showing now like: "cao.docx", but it isn't right yet..
