One thing I see that hasn't been tried is to use the Serial port to clear the nvram.
I suggest you start there.
Get a Serial cable setup...instructions in wiki under Hardware DIY.
Connect it up, power cycle the router, when you see the cfe begin to display message hit Cntl-C. You should get a CFE> prompt.
Now do an
nvram erase
Yes..."nvram" is a command in the CFE console.
Once the nvram is cleared....see if it will then boot up.
If not...then you will need to use the restoration tool from Asus....but I think something in the nvram is prohibiting this for now....
BTW....If you want a premade Serial Cable...I got mine off Ebay....They run about $15-20 shipped....you will need one that will work at 3.3V not just 5V.
Don't give up....

This is a way out in left field, likely useless suggestion, but do check your power supply...you are using the right one and check the output with a multimeter. Since others are having the same problem, I doubt this is the issue, but you did mention that unplugged it and went from work to home, and that's where the problem started.
What firmware was on it originally? I am wondering about that double boot wait with the dd-wrt and the hard wired one being incompatible.

You will need something like that, but I'll let Redhawk respond to how to get the header in the unit....that's the surgeon's job.
You do realize that this is not a change IP address issue? It is a build issue or a setting incompatibility. What build of dd-wrt did you put on the router? _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"

Donny,
I followed the wiki to the letter for the linux install. With the clearvram and the mini asus and For the final version of dd-wrt I loaded the dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin
I too am going to use a chunk of cat5 for the wiring, pity i have to wait for the USB :/

Could you check the date on that file?
Also, I think there was a linux version of the asus tool, if you were interested. Check the wiki.
EDIT: There is not a linux version of the asus tool. The linux files were some source code, firmware, and manuals.
I checked the wiki instructions and it said that you needed:
final firmware image. For example, I used dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin. Use the most recent version.
Unfortunately, this doesn't tell what the version you used is. Do you recall where you downloaded it from? I suspect that it was a SP1 download, but details would help out here. _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"

Donny,
I use a variety of OS's.. The windows one was sufficient. Thanks for that file btw.. The asus site is hard to navigate.
My soldering skills are rusty, I'll have to pull a few parted motherboards out of the basement to practice on while I am waiting for the USB board to arrive.
I don't plan to give up on dd-wrt or this Asus.. Community support is solid.. and from what I saw of the software, worth the trouble! :)
