Hi, i flashed my fone*a+ with v24sp1, and i am using it just as wired router ( with wireless turned off). I overclocked it to 220Mhz, but the maximum speed that i can reach is around 15Mbit/s. Is it normal ? My ISP gives me a 30Mbit/s and i reach it when i plug the cable directly to my PC.

If not overclocked about 100%, SSH session freezes and the traffic is 11 - 12 Mbit/s. If overclocked to 220Mhz the load is about 85 - 90%, SSH session is working ( but slowly ), the traffic is about 14 - 15Mbit/s. The main process that loads the router is: [ksoftirqd/0]

Hello

I'm having the same problem with my Lafonera+

I didnt overclock it, but I can't get more than 15-16Mbps (my connection directly to modem is 50Mbps) from WLAN|LAN <-> WAN.

Internally (LAN <-> WLAN) I get 27Mbps...

my La Fonera is FON2201, and its technical info says it has 10/100 interfaces, and both are working in 100 full duplex.

My firmware is:
Code:
DD-WRT v24 std (c) 2008 NewMedia-NET GmbH
Release: 07/26/08 (SVN revision: 9994)

Processor:
Quote:
root@ddwrt:~# cat /proc/cpuinfo
system type : Atheros AR2315
processor : 0
cpu model : MIPS 4KEc V6.4
BogoMIPS : 183.50
wait instruction : yes
microsecond timers : yes
tlb_entries : 16
extra interrupt vector : yes
hardware watchpoint : no
ASEs implemented :
VCED exceptions : not available
VCEI exceptions : not available

and attached is a "top" printscreen while I'm downloading at maximum throughput.

Does anyone got how to fix this problem???

10ks Smile

How can I overclock it? And how can I use the "bridge" mode that reach 20mbps?

its not a good idea if u havnt rich ddwrt/hw experiance. u can permanently damage your device

10ks for the information :)

Do you know some cheap router that I could use to archieve the 50Mbps using dd-wrt?

my modem is actually a modem-router netgear (CBVG834G), and I couldn't find any 3rd party firmware that has QoS like ddwrt to flash into my modem-router...

My main goal is have QoS running in my network since I need to assure the bandwidth for a certain port.

Flashed the newest version 06-19-09-r12319

ksoftirqd/0 used less CPU, but IRQ load stil reaching almost 100%. Now I get 17-18Mbps instead of 14-15... but still far from my 50Mbps Smile

To get 50Mbps or close to it you need an embedded board. Newer routers flashed w/ dd-wrt can also work but they are a bit unstable right now. And w/ such speeds, the 32MB of ram may not be enough and wireless usage consumes quite a bit of cpu also.

An older PC w/ a couple high quality NICs can also work (avoid via or realtek chipset NICs as they consume CPU). If your speeds go beyond this, Layer 3 Cisco switches, are basically functional equivalents of routers using its asic hardware for switching rather than the cpu+firmware of routers. I recommend an older 1.2GHz-2.0GHz PC for your high speed routing needs. I'm assuming you'll also need various other services running which require additional cpu. Alix and Soekris may get you close to 50Mbps + an Atheros-based mini-pci card w/ nothing else running. The F*nera has a VERY slow cpu not suitable for your needs.

Good luck!
