ok, so if it's impossible to sell the firmware, sell the flashing cable with a cd or a download link to the firmware. And it's always possible to implement a registration code for the firmware. Even if posting the source makes removing it rather easy, most people will still pay to get everything working in one nice package.

Ok, i agree with all off this, but, if we start to think and work abit...
I don´t like very much all of you (and me) waiting for a release for atheros based chips, and just wait, wait, wait, so, please, lets start to work...
I will post some docs next days, how to make a serial cable, how to connect them to the ap´s, how to compile a kernel for atheros based chips, etc...
And now i need help for a Redboot for AR2316.
Give me 1 day and i will post some docs (i will start to write them now).

Let the force be with you

Looking good looking good. So the La fonera is a clone of the SMC one...or rebranded.

I got my La fonera a week ago and its nice to see all the good work allready! Keep up the good work!! Hope you get it to work guys.

It seems that there are several devices that uses the Atheros-chipset.

Check out this site for connecting a max3233 part with no need for external caps.

If you compare the pictures of the fonera with this device, you can see they are both based on an atheros reference design. The good news is that the linux source for this device can be found on the same page.

Somebody already tried to get JTAG working?

I soldered a connector on my fonera, but using my direct (unbuffered) linksys cable it just stops booting and I can't connect to it.

Seems like you have to use a wiggler cable
