Ever since I bought Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH on stock firmware, I never had a stable wifi connection. Luckily I hardly needs wifi connection at house before.

Now I got a Android smartphone and my sister visiting my house, who has an iPhone. It becomes a necessity to have a stable wifi connection. In the past month I have tried r19342 and r19519. Both starts out OK, but rapidly become unstable and hard to connect. Even if the phones connect, often times it can't access the internet.

The thread has becomes so long, I would like to have some opinions on which newest firmware is stable on wifi connection? I'm really tired of fighting with this thing.

Best,

In my case after flashing to last 19484 I started to face problems:

- sh does not work anymore, it complains about Execution permission
- Now running vpnc I get (ISAKMP_N_INVALID_PAYLOAD_TYPE)(1)

I do not know what to do, if I come back to 14998 I face packets lost... (the reason that made me to move to 19484)

Thanks
Juan

Try latest BUFFALO branded dd-wrt beta release - yet haven't tested it complete but it's OK for now!

@vpritiskovic, where did you download DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) std - build 19342? in Buffalo website only you can get 19484... and as I mentioned before does not work too well with sh and vpnc.

By the way, what is BrainSlayer? Can be applied to any WZR-HP-G300NH?

Thanks!

What's the proper way to revert to BUFFALO branded dd-wrt? I already tried webupgrade several times last night using wzrhpg300nh-pro-v24sp2-19484-beta.enc but failed.

I've been running 17967 with minimal problems for several months. WiFi seems very reliable (android phone, laptops and even a couple older iThings).

I'm only running a single hardware WiFi AP (the WZR), but I have it set up with two SSIDs, one for internal network + internet and another for "guest" use that only provides internet access.

Before 17967 things were problematic, regular drop-outs and even problems with wired connection throughput (torrents, etc).

I peek at this thread occasionally to see if there is anything I should try, but so far I haven't seen anything to make me "upgrade" beyond 17967.

YMMV.

Finally successfully back to Buffalo firmware after several tries.

When doing tftp, there are different opinions about how long the timeout is. Some said 1 second, some said 2 seconds. My own experience is 4 - 5 seconds after powering up the router.

I referenced the Windows instruction here.
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/wzr-hp-g300h

I created 2 batch files.

Step 1. Prepare.bat
Code:
set ROUTERIP=192.168.11.1
set ROUTERMAC=02-aa-bb-cc-dd-1a

cls & arp -a & echo. & echo Look for %ROUTERMAC% and delete all ip addresses which are not %ROUTERIP% with arp -d ip

@REM On newer Windows (e.g. 7) use netsh. Have to get interface number of LAN network card first.
route print
set INTERFACE=11
netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors %INTERFACE% %ROUTERIP% %ROUTERMAC%

@REM On older Windows (e.g. XP) use arp
arp -s %ROUTERIP% %ROUTERMAC%

Power up router before step 2. Wait a few seconds.

Step 2. Go.bat
Code:
tftp -i %ROUTERIP% PUT wzrhpg300nh-pro-v24sp2-19484-beta.enc

The tftp transfer itself took just 15 seconds, but it took a few minutes while doing the flashing and DIAG LED will keep blinking.

My question: will I be able to restore settings from DD-WRT backup or I have to reconfigure everything? Will I brick the router if I try to restore setting for DD-WRT to Buffalo's version of DD-WRT?

Its always good to start anew and not try to restore settings from an old build to a newer one, or vice versa.

Also for the record, the whole flashing back and forth from buffalo dd-wrt to community dd-wrt is already covered in the dd-wrt wiki for this unit.
