How does the FCC number help? Sorry for being such a NooB.

Along with other information from the FCC website, one thing of use is internal pictures of the device. From there you can ascertain the processor, radio, and other useful information.

It is basically the information generated when the unit was tested for FCC approval.

What would a WRT54GS2 do for the cause? Is one needed?

Though honestly Newegg has WRT54G2 originals for cheaper, to my knowledge.

PLEASE!

This stock firmware is horrible, after about an hour if I dont reboot, I get about a max of 100kBps download when I should be getting nearly 10x that.

I dont have the money to get a new(older) router, just waiting for ddwrt for this Smile Hopefully soon

Sorry... I must have been having an alzheimers moment. That's what happens when you get pointed to the new post at the end of the thread. Plus getting real old doesn't help much either.

You can jtag a cfe from eko. I have doing some testing on the 1.3. The same cfe will probably work on the gs2

What does 'jtag a cfe from eko' mean?

See the wiki article on jtag to understand what jtag is. You will likely need a CFE to do this. Eko might have one for your unit.

I am also interested in getting my GS2 on DD-WRT. I read the article on CFE and JTAGing. If anyone gets it running will we be able to get a GUI flashable (or telnet) version of DD-WRT for everyone? I know this router is going to be popular because walmart is selling them by the thousands. I made a mistake when I bought mine by misreading the supported devices on my tiny blackberry screen.

I may try to find someone to buy this so I can get an old linksys wrt54g with ddwrt... This 100kBps max thing this firmware is giving me is really getting annoying.

Anyone can post the official specs of the processor etc? Updating wikipedia, and would be nice to know the little details. Assuming its the same as the wtr54g2, but not 100% sure.

Keep that receipt and packaging in case you want to return it.

If you guys have jtag, I'll bet eko can post a cfe to try. I've got dd-wrt on a G2 V1.3 but had to jtag the cfe till the port is done. I don't have a GS2 or I would test.
