Hi there,

I've searched the forum and the internet and unfortunately I couldn't find any answer to my problem: I upgraded my WRT54GL from v23 to v24 SP1 and now I can't log into the router anymore. I tried root with my old password, root with admin, and all the other combinations I could think of but none of them worked. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks,
Michael

Sounds like you forgot the first and primary rule for all firmware upgrades. With the power on, always push the fucking reset button for 45 seconds after any firmware flash. Oh, #2 is always read the fucking wiki for what you are doing. Always, dude, always.
Shocked

That worked but it erased all my settings. I backed up the firewall right before the upgrade. Can I restore that file, or I need to reconfigure it?

With such a big transition in versions I have an instinctively strong feeling that you need to reconfigure your firewall rules from scratch. In the future save your rules in a notepad file that you can copy and paste into your newly flashed upgrades. It is always better to re-configure from scratch to eliminate the possability of bad side effects.

I guess all I can say is "live and learn" Smile . I restored the old version and just finished what you suggested (screen shots and notepad notes). Now on to the new version.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately the "new version" is a shitty buggy version.
You didn't notice the first thread in the forum, the "Announcement" post?
Now while you're at it, read the second post as well.

If you are running one of the V24-Final or V24-SP1 build and you have not experienced any problems....then stick with it...don't update.
