Hello there,

I'm wondering if you can tell me how to increase the transmit power of this WRT160NL

As seen from here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wl_command

i should be able to use txpwr1 to change the transmit power of my router.

this should exist but when i try to execute any command ie. "wl" through telnet or through the normal command window (web ui) it complains command is not found.

I would like to ultimately change the transmit power of my wifi signal. However doing it through the user interface and checking the tx power in the wireless administrator page it seems to always stay at 14dbm. But when I try to do it manually the wl command doesn't exist. Help will appreciated thanks!

What is your network mode (mixed, etc), channel width, antenna chains, and wifi channel settings?

Configuration shouldn't matter; I think it's the "wl" command itself he seeks. I also have the same issue, where "wl" does not appear to exist.

My old WRT-350N (Broadcom, v24-sp2 build 11514) router has "wl":
Code:
ls -l /usr/sbin/wl
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        34003 Jan 29  2009 /usr/sbin/wl

My WZR-HP-G300NH (build 14815) doesn't appear to have it:
Code:
ls -l /usr/sbin | grep wl
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        20820 Jul 16 00:27 80211n_wlanconfig
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        27408 Jul 16 00:27 iwlist
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         5909 Jul 16 00:27 wl_atheros

"iwlist" may provide what is desired, since it has a 'txpower' parameter. I haven't tried it myself, since I couldn't find documentation to verify my guess.

Perhaps "wl" has been superseded by another command (like "iwconfig"...?) but then wouldn't the Wiki reflect the change?

wl only comes with Broadcom hardware, NOT Atheros.

See these threads:

Old thread; don't revive.
