There is a possibility that just I might send you a Belkin F5D8235-4 v1000.
This depends on if the router comes back alive from repair. The reason it's being repaired is that it went silent after firmwareupdate (f5d8235v1_ww_1.01.24.bin). Only router light blinks.

I'd really like DD-WRT for this unit (F5D8235-4 V2000) as well, since the factory firmware leaves a bit to be desired in functionality...

Looks like some hardware hacking over at OpenWRT has netted some information, but looks like the gigabit switch in this device may pose a bit of a challenge...

I know there's are two versions of this unit... is there actually a physical difference? or just the difference between linux 2.4 and 2.6?

https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=21998

Looking in the package from Belkin, it looks like they simply include compiled binaries for the RTL8366 switch/interfaces... looks like for linux kernel v 2.6.21.x.

There was a comment above about hardware donation == a port... is that the case? or just a dream?

It appears that there's a bit of confusion in this particular thread... there's two versions of the 8235 v1 which runs a RT2880 cpu, and v2 which runs an RT3052F. The newer (V2) unit runs the 3052F cpu... tend to wonder if that's backwards compatible with the 2880... though my router's too important for me to arbitrarily brick...

I don't have the tools to pull some of the information you requested in the broadcom detection.

The FCC-ID for a v2000 F5D8235-4B router is: K7SF5D8235-4B... there are some VERY good pictures on the FCC site for the internals of this router...

While the CPU is different, the switch chip is a RTL8366RB which is in the same family as the switch in the AR760W unit discussed rather thoroughly in a different thread. I believe this has 32mb of ram, and 4mb of FLASH.

Here's some interesting notes by Herb Swanson related to his adventures with this unit posted over at OpenWRT...

Mine says VER. 2033 (on the bottom of the box), does that mean it is version 2?

In the future will this router support some type of open source firmware? I have trouble finding this info anywhere on the net and would like to know since I have a limited amount of time before I can return it back to the store.

I just got one in the hopes of using the GPL source from the manufacture to add some extra functions and update existing ones. I am having trouble. I would like ot be able to telnet into the router to find out more about it, but can't seem to get telnet to work. I even tried compiling one myself with the code from Belkin's site. It doesn't want to take the firmware via web interface. I openeded a precompiled version and the one I did with a hex editor and a tag in the first few bytes with the router's name is missing. I can change them but I am worried it might brick my router and I don't have much debricking experience. Can anyone tell me how to get telnet toe work? thanks in advance

I just bought one of these routers and to my disappointment found out that it cannot be configured to work as a client bridge.
Any progress/updates about the firmware on this router?

This thread has posts about both versions 1 and 2 of Belkin F5D8235-4. THe info in this post is based on v2 of the F5D8235-4.

Sash asked for the device detection information some months ago. Here is a start.

FCC-ID: K7SF5D8235-4B
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=795025&fcc_id='K7SF5D8235-4B'

I can not do a better job of taking a picture than has already beed done at https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=21998

Here is the chip set information from my device:

Realtek RTL8366RB Single-Chip 5+1-Port 10/100/1000 Switch Controller
http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=18&PFid=15&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=197

MX 29LV640DBTC-90G
8 MB flash memory

Ralink
RT3052F
802.11n Wireless Single Chip AP/Router SoC

Winbond
W9812G6IH-6
16 MB DRAM (2 of these chips on the board)

There is a serial interface on the board, but not JTAG interface.
I do not have the knowledge to extract the files cfe.bin & nvram.bin. Any advice on how to get these files on this device?

I tried the telnet command "telnet -o 192.168.100.1" but the Belkin did not connect.

I'm also on the band wagon waiting to see if there might be some support for this device. if I run into some money sometime I'll provide one for testing.

I'm also interested in this.... Figured a fresh bump and another person may help sway this to get done. Rockin' a F5D8235-4 v2000 on a student budget so I can't really afford to brick my only real connection or you'd be getting a fun package.

I have a Belkin F5D8235-4 v2 as well, would love to see DD-WRT run on this router. The stock firmware after about 24hrs to 36hrs stops responding and I have to pull the power on it to reboot the router. What would be the best version of DD-WRT to test on this router? Also, would the firmware need to be tftp'd or would it upgrade through the web interface?
