So should we just forget about it then? It has been over a year and redboot is not available still. After redboot, there still needs to be even more development, right?

OK but redboot seems either nearly impossible or so far down the pipeline that these routers will be gone by then. You have on your site the to be ported list. It is nearly at the bottom. Not sure why at the length of time it has been there with you. I did a search in the forum for some of those units above the rv082 and I'm not sure how they got put so far ahead.

BS told me that many of the necessary tools are missing from the stock firmware in order to get redboot on it, I'm sure that has not changed. It seems like BS is the only one that can fix this redboot issue and he is really busy. Is it possible to send this to someone like Eko, maybe he would be able to port it? He seems to port many in recent days.

I am very interested in getting a Dual WAN router with failover capabilities or get the RV082 running.

I'll get an investment going on this if needed or can someone point me in the direction of workable alternative?

I have used the RV082 on about 5 different sites with really good results with VOIP but know this would kick even more A$$ with DD-WRT.

So what's the consensus?

I have read the threads on the RV082 but there seems to be no real positive direction that anyone has pointed out. Can we get a real estimate on it's finish and can someone point me to a comparable solution for Dual Wan failover?

The problem has been getting redbbot running on the unit. I had sent one to a developer at open-wrt and he just sent me an email today with a picture of him getting redboot running on it.

I would think it should not be too long. The unit I sent him was a version 2 and I sent a version 1 to the guys at dd-wrt. Maybe if you send a version to to the guys at dd-wrt and they get the redboot from after he completes it, we will all have the rv082 option.

I hope you are serious to donate one as I have already donated 2 of them.

David - thank you so much. You are the man. You should post up the picture! Perhaps post up a paypal link - it wouldn't hurt and I'm sure most of us (myself definately included) wouldn't think twice about donating the funds to you.. seeing as you already donated 2 of these routers.

Sash do you think after he has the redboot working it will be hard to get it working with the dual wan and fail over too?

Forgive me, I'm confused. I see the RV082 in the list of supported Devices ( http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Cisco ). Does that mean that this thread just didnt get updated, or does it mean that it shouldnt bo on the list. I'm so confused.

Oh, also ...
davidgrudek, thanks.

If you see the wip in the minimum requirements, this means work in progress. There was a problem with the hardware that the developer was using to make the redboot work. Once He gets back to the US then I will ship him a new one. Then hopefully he will get it working.

Sorry for the delays.

Cisco just released a firmware upgrade, but I cannot tell if it excludes pre-V3 devices. The date is 02-02-2011
