I'd had it set for 28mW prior to PM's with you...I bumped it to 40mW and saw maybe 1-2% increase with noise level staying around 87%. I'd never jumped above 40mW before as I've read enough posts in the past 2yrs to know I wouldn't have gained anything. Now the noise is at 10-20% (varies). I'll poke around for a graph if you'd like, but I personally don't need one to prove the swap worked-dramatically!
Heat is no issue at all...they were warm to the touch before, and if its increased at all, I can't feel it.

Very Happy Shoreguy - No Worries...I was just wondering what the improvement was in terms of numbers. I am not questioning that you are happy with the switch.
I am getting -64 Signal, -87 Noise, 23 SNR, 37% Signal Quality running at 56 mW with the stock power supply. I wanted to try the 5A power supply to try and improve my SNR to over 25 which would give my the full throttle 54 Mps. Currently 23 SNR is ~44 Mps throughput. When I switched to the new 5A power supply and even with using 71-100 mW I was only able to get a 22 SNR. It must be dependent on distance from source?

Anyone else have any feedback or comments to share?

You should try tweaking settings, changing channels, etc. 4 was giving me low signal strength and I was fluctuating a bit too much in rssi when set to auto, 11 is what I settled on.

I would have toss mt router out if i could only use 56mW as i use my router alot of times about 1/4 mile from my house.
Plus i run a HotSpot here in my town and i have people that can hit it from a mile away "wrt54G v2".

Cool

Just more input from the peanut gallery - I have 2 WRT310N units (AP, CB) and have always experienced random dropouts. I installed inSSIDer and I was getting a pretty choppy signal, so I ordered 2 of the 12V 5A power supplies that have been linked in this thread.

I've been using the new power supplies for 3 days now. Surprisingly, based on the other screenshots, my signal is still rather choppy regardless of tx power level, and neither my SnR nor signal quality are markedly improved. However - and this is really the only part I care about - I haven't had a single dropout since using the new power supplies.

BTW - the cure for the dropout I was experiencing was to login to the CB router, click the Wireless tab, and click Apply Settings, and the CB-AP link would be back up within 10 seconds. I've seen this "fix" mentioned in regards to WDS dropouts, so in case the extra details help, there they are.

I'm interested to see how a Buf. WHR-HP-G54 responds to the power brick mod...any ideas on where to acquire a 5v 3A+ power supply?

good question about the HP-G54. I was wondering the same thing. But, I accidentally hooked up the power cord to my surfboard cable modem to a G125 and it smoked it....literally, so I am a bit leary on Buffalo units now.
