Hi i think i big time bricked my router.
I was fiddling around in telnet when i attempted erase 1,3,5,7,0 i erased all of the numbers. what did i do? It will not respond to ping therefore i don't think i can tftp a firmware onto it anymore. Is my router now toast? I am willing to try to recover through serial cable if at all possible. I also am willing to try JTAG which i think is what will be needed but the only problem is where is the JTAG port?

I'm not being sarcastic. I am just wondering what you were trying to do?

That device has no jtag readily available. It may be there, someone needs to find the connection points if they exist.

i was trying to clear all the settings from my router including the mac addresses for all the ports. I was trying to set up dual-wan and a couple of the ports had the same mac address. I tried erasing nvram and erasing ram. Then i tried erasing those numbers.
The serial port looks alot like a JTAG port. correct me if i am wrong but to me it seems like it has enough pins to use a JTAG and more pins then needed for a serial connection. So maybe this is a JTAG port but the software needed to use the port is what is missing?

12 or 14 pin connection pads are likely candidates for jtag.
10 pin connection pads are usually 2 x serial port, 5 pins each.

sorry.. that is a serial port, not jtag. And it is a ttl serial connection. You need an adapter to talk to it via rs232.

Did you try a hard reset (30/30/30) on the device?

Possibly you can access it wirelessly.. Donno...

Eko just posted this in regards to a 610. It may work on your 600.

That's a really good question. That's why I asked what you were trying to do. I don't know the answer. Someone will I am sure. If not, we can try those commands on a unit that will be easy to recover.

Just a little humor to add to the sad circumstance:

Q: Do you know what that red button does?

A: Why no....

Q: Then why did you push it?

HOW TO RECOVER WRT610N

- plug power in
- wait 1-2s
- press reset button
- keep pressing for 5s
- open your browser at 192.168.1.1
- upload new firmware

Timing is crucial. And some routers I've seen must NOT have any lan cable plugged in for this to work. Plug it only after you released reset button.

Please confirm on different 610ns!
If this works for you... please add to Wiki
