I "bricked" my router by installing DD-WRT based on the instructions here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E4200
I would add a warning here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E4200#Warnings
Something like:
- Check that the version of your router is compatible with DD-WRT. The e4200 v2 has a marvell chipset, and flashing with DD-WRT will brick your router!

Thank you.

Fixed. Thanks.

I am not understanding why the Install Wiki for WRT54GS v2 calls for using initially (after upgrading factory firmware) a trailed build of 14929, and then says to upgrade after that to 13491 VINT mini, and then to any other VINT 13491 as desired (mega, etc.).

I'm still learning, and perhaps I missed something, but shouldn't the final recommendation for WRT54GSv2 be for 14929, as also stated in the Peacock thread? I think WRT54GSv2 is like coreerev 7 or something.
