Running 14948 now. So far so good. For the functionality I use, no better or worse than previous versions.

Ok I have a DIR-825 at work and home. I cannot VPN into my house or work if I try going through my work DIR-825 and vice versa? If I connect directly into the cable modem no problem? If I connect my Linksys WRT160N running build 14684 then I can also connect? ideas?

So the problem is definitely doing a VPN connect between two DIR-825's.

Ok did some reading... found out you can't run the PPTP Server on both DIR-825's? So if I turn the service off at work I can then connect at home... Annoying but at least I know the problem.

However I have another problem... My iPhone4 still won't connect to the VPN at home? I found this http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=229894&sid=50460ff0175122bffba1a8d79cb0cf4f and applied the startup sed -i -e 's/mppe .*/mppe required,stateless/' /tmp/pptpd/options.pptpd. Still no luck? Just says Connecting... Starting... and then "A connection could not be established..."

Anyone have ideas on this?

I have a Linksys WRT610N v.2 (Broadcom) flashed with DD-WRT working very nice as Repeater Bridge. If you want Repeater Mode, FORGET ATHEROS!

My D-Link DIR-825 rev.B1 (Atheros) is a big deception with DD-WRT. No Repeater Bridge Mode option and No Wireless Signal as Client Bridge. DD-WRT Team said the Repeater/Client Bridge is broken at the moment if working with Athero's CPU. GO TO BROADCOM AND BE HAPPY! Very Happy

Does the latest version support VLANs on the DIR-825? Looks like the latest OpenWRT Kamikaze trunk firmware can do VLANs on the DIR-825, but there are some major wireless stability problems and am looking to switch to DD-WRT.

I've been running the stock firmware for a few months now.

Did the antenna chain get sorted out? Has the new firmware addressed the signal strength issues in the earlier builds?

Thanks in advance!

Finally installed samba. Works just awesome when I copy something onto the drive - the speed is steadily bouncing around 100 megabits, which is average.

But when I try to copy something off the drive - that's the problem. The memory somehow is instantly depleted (not by smbd, only two instances in top with 5% each), and the copying stutters. If I wait, it works in bursts of high speed which last for about 1/10 of a second, and there's absolutely no copying between them. Finally Windows (XP or 7) just gives up. Mac is fine.

Swap cannot be enabled because swapon compiled for Atheros is just useless (Function not implemented), and I don't know who eats my RAM.

I CANNOT see any progress in this FIRMWARE.
1. Firmware 06-12-10-r14594. When i upload file > 4-5mb to rapidshare or other hosting - L2TP connection is down. Always ! Any time !
I'm wait , wait - and install 08-12-10-r14929
2. This firmware is worse than the previous one for me. Host name of my VPN-L2TP connection always is "bad name" if i try ping them, i must connection through IP. Ok, AGAIN i cannot upload > 4-5 mb of file. What the fuck, excuse me, BrainSlayer.
Why i bought this router , and i must use VPN through Windows instead router past six months somewhere.
And wait, wait , wait - when released new GOOD firmware .

SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISH.

The latest version of this firmware is 14929. You might get a little farther with a more pleasant online personality. And if you truly think this firmware is so awful, you can always go back to the stock firmware. However, in my opinion, this firmware is so much better than the stock that there really isn't any comparison.

You can find the latest firmware here.

Did you turn on universal plug and play? Did you try opening the appropriate ports, or forwarding them to your computer?

Why.
How important are the ports here? I do not understand.

I'm an idiot. I didn't understand what l2tp was. I thought you were posting about some kind of file sharing app... Smile
