Is there any software for jtag'ing on 64 bit windows, specifically windows 7 64bit? The giveio.sys driver is 32bit so it won't work for the 64bit OS and when I try tjag3 it complains "Couldn't access giveio device". Am I stuck installing another OS to jtag?

Excellent question, Fuze. I have long been curious whether W764 would host XP32 in it's native VM. I've had the hardware to test it for over 2 years but have procrastinated on the assembly. I don't know if MS will still activate W7 Beta keys, but, your question has put me over the edge. I'm building the beast now. Your question is part of a much larger general compatibilty question that I am very late on answering.

While you are waiting for an answer, surely you can borrow an XP rig? Or create a dual boot?

Another option is to down load "Virtual Box", its free to download and install XP x32 in virtual box.

Virtual machines won't work either, the driver needs to be loaded on the host OS. I'll probably load up a linux live cd in the morning...

Virtual Box does not allow raw access to devices on the machine. Tried it, did not even have an LPT port in the quest machine.

You best and simplest route is to down load a linux live CD. You can boot from it, download TJTAG or save it on a linux friendly partition and run it from there without touching anything on your hard drive. Who know, you might like it and switch... :D

But Win-x64 support would be nice. Would TJTAG have to be recompiled in x64 mode?

I was looking around for a faster/better giveio.sys the other day and happened to run across a port driver that had been ported to 64bit:

http://www.highrez.co.uk/

look for Inpoutx64 XP 64 bit

I believe at one time I added a 32bit version of this to tjtag, just to test it, because it loaded the dll dynamically, so there was no need for loadrv...

Also look here

http://logix4u.net/Legacy_Ports/Parallel_Port/Inpoutx64.dll_for_WIN_XP_64_bit.html

I will build it if someone want to test it, but I have no 64 bit windows to do any testing on, only Linux 64bit.

Let me know

Yeah I'll test it. I'm a little worried that I might have damaged the board while desoldering though.

Also, Im not sure it will work on Windows 7, from waht I understand its not needed, but I need to do a little more research on that, or maybe someone else can answer that question.

I has had limited testing on XP 64, I do not know about Vista either, I guess we will find out..but I suggest you make sure your board is ready before testing...

Maybe GeeTek can help us out here ?

I'm almost finished with the WRT54G-RG CFE_Updater, then I will start working on it
