Seems sorted now had to reduce the max_sector have set it to 128 and the drive is being mounted for last 11 hours without any issues , default was 240 which seems to have causing issues have added the entry to change the max sector in startup script now.

I may presume after some "googling" that you have problem with partition.
Did you create partition using router or laptop/PC?
I will suggest to recreate partition using your laptop/PC but don't forget to set inode size of 128 byte while file system creation process (mke2fs -i 128). _________________ Device: Netgear WNDR4300

I didn't re-created the partition the thing i'm doing is im downloading a single 7GB file and i was transferring the file but i can't get it transfered and one which i noticed is i cant see the file when i telnet to the dir but the file is available via LAN or FTP and i looked at dmesg while copying it showed me these errors.I had already re-created the partitions many times though not with inode size 128 would it solve all issues ? Also i have as my startup script.
echo 128 > /sys/block/sda/device/max_sectors
Code:
<6>EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.

First of all you definitely have problem with your partition. Second I'm not sure that setting inode size to 128 will solve your problem but it should be 128.
Only I'm sure that's not good idea to use something like this:
Quote:
echo 128 > /sys/block/sda/device/max_sectors
I believe you have read on some forums that this command will speedup your USB I/O operations but it's not true. This router has USB I/O speed limit because of hardware issues and you cannot fix it with any software tricks
My advise: re-create the partition using linux PC with inode size 128 and remove line mentioned above from startup script. _________________ Device: Netgear WNDR4300

Ill recreate the partitions using gparted do unidentified size needs to be 128 for both partitions.?
Inode size have to be 128 byte for both partition if of course first partition is not a swap.
I'm not sure that using gparted you can set inode size during creation of file system. It will create file system with default inode size for your PC linux version. I will probably be 256.
I suggest you to use old manner fdisk&mke2fs tools _________________ Device: Netgear WNDR4300

I am connected from my laptop to my router at 65Mbps over wi/fi.
I have 500GB SATA HDD in USB 2.0 rack with ext3 partition. It is attached to my router, and I use it for /opt partition.
When I upload some file over FTP to my HDD I can not accomplish more than 2 MB/s. If I download files from USB, I can not get more then 2.5 MB/s. With 65Mbps I should get much higher rates (at least 6.5 - 7 MB/s if we calculate overhead of about 20%).
Is this normal or I have some problem with my router?

This is normal due of hardware limitation.
I've mentioned this issue a few post before. _________________ Device: Netgear WNDR4300
