It is a private build with some std dd-wrt functions stripped off and file system support added.
There will never be an official dd-wrt build for 4MB flash based routers with USB.
It is now roughly 1000 changesets later in the dd-wrt source tree and we are on linux kernel 3.2, a slightly bigger kernel and with some slightly bigger drivers.
Will you get an update on that private build and what does he need to take out?
Hacks like this is like a one-way road and you'll soon end up in the end of it, buy a router with hardware specs matching what you want to get out of it.!
You can also squeeze in a family of 11 persons in a small Seat or Lada but the ride will not be comfortable..

I have been using build 14896 for the past month or two in repeater bridge mode and here are my thoughts:
Pros:
1) Excellent Interface
2) Love the ability to configure
3) Love the technical tools such as bandwidth monitoring
Cons:
1) Per InSSIDer, it would only give me max rate of 144 vs 300 for stock firmware
2) Quirky connection issues: Even though laptop said a good connection speed (IE. 72.0 Mbps) at times the speed would be awful. This made streaming difficult (sometimes it was great and sometimes awful). OBI/VOIP typically was up which made me bear with DD-WRT longer than I probably should have.
3) Connection speeds would jump all over the place at times. 72 Mbps one sec then 5 Mbps the next sec. Stock firmware does this too at times but seems much more stable.
In the end, I moved back to ASUS firmware 1.0.2.0 (considering if its worthwhile to use Beta version 7.6.2.2). Using ASUS in repeater mode with ASUS firmware now.
Anyone else have similar issues? It was just surprising given all the good things I've heard about DD-WRT.
Can others confirm the new release (18687) doesn't flash?
Apparently this is a big step up, to K3.2, and the B1 version now comes with the FS drivers. (All but FAT/32 reportedly work.)
How fine it would be if the v1 also now had the FS drivers included. (No time to try it out now; any reports welcome.)
I had reverted back to stock Asus firmware early last year as the builds I had tried seemed unstable. This past weekend I decided to give dd-wrt another go on my RT-N13U v1.
I can confirm, no FW's work past r18024.
Also, I had to unplug power this morning after roughly 24 hours of uptime, I'm hoping this doesn't continue.
Perhaps the router is just junk, not the firmware. I am running stock fw and have to reset my router periodically due to "out of memory" errors. I expected more from this router but maybe it is time to move on to something more beefy. After all, we use the internet so much that it makes sense to invest in a really solid router.
My router has been up 100% since my last post, no problems at all. Very happy with the r18024 firmware its running.
I'm just confused why firmware's since r18024 are no good? I wonder if there's someone that can be contacted about this?
I believe it's because they are too big. Hopefully someone can fix this soon. I'd really like to upgrade to the most recent build, even though this one is still functioning flawlessly.

Hmmm, when I tried dd-wrt I tried the 14896 that was on the rt-n13u page and I had all the issues I noted here:

Should I give 18024 a try? The ASUS firmware I have been using just seems so much more stable.
hi can anyone help me... i have rtn13u (not the b1 version)... i patch it to ddwrt version 15962, 17201, 18007, 18024 (after flashing diff custom firmware, i end up staying at 15962)..
here's my problem... i experiencing DC or error in transmission-daemon when i download 2 files at the same time... by the way i connect 20gb USB enclosure to this router. 2gb for my ext3 (part1), 18gb ext3 (part 2). anyone have an idea so i can able to download multiple files at the same time.
Is there going to be an updated firmware for Asus RT-N13U B1?
DDNS is broken in build 17027. Hopefully it comes with full ipv6 support(including BGP)
They are on build 19519 for the B1: ftp://www.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2012/ I've been running it as a repeater bridge with a shared USB drive for a few weeks now without a problem. Can't comment about DDNS or IPV6 as I'm not using those functions, but there are so many other improvements that it wouldn't surprise me if those have been included/improved as well.

I'm running wive-ng on this router for the last 6-7 months and it works like a charm: no reboot, no hangs, maximum speed. Therefore I cannot agree with you about junk part. _________________ Device: Netgear WNDR4300
