Try using the terminal window in osx. You will have to tftp 192.168.1.1, then binary, then put (firmware.trx). Openwrt has good instructions for using osx, I think. Do a search.
It will take about 10 seconds to load, then wait 5 minutes, and the lights should stabilize (do nothing different). Then power cycle the router and wait ten minutes or until you can access the dd-wrt webgui at 192.168.1.1
