This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Try to enable OpenVPN server in the Services tab and maybe put some delay into your scripts before it starts executing. BS has been changing the codes that’s controlling the router behaviors and I guess that’s messing up your scripts.

Or as you found out, loading the tun module works as well.

inadyn (DD-WRT’s DDNS client) errors on updating IP with FreeDNS (RC_IP_RECV_ERROR).

I could work around by using FreeDNS curl script for update, but rather not. Reverting to 36400 and inadyn works fine again

Since BS changed mac related code it may be necessary to clear nvram and setup by hand again.

Hello Kong, I erase nvram then factory defaults then configured by hand. Also these commands don't seem to work on this build....

startservice radio_off_0 -f
startservice radio_off_1 -f

Thanks for your work!

Router: Netgear R8500 (Gateway with WiFi: ON)
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r36410M kongac (07/28/1Cool
Kernel: 4.4.145
Status: Problem with 5 GHz Wireless
Reset: No (upgraded from the previous build via DDUP)

Errors: I can't see the SSID from other devices when in "Mixed" mode on the 5 GHz radios. If I switch from anything other that, I get speeds in the 130mb/s range.

The GUI speed slowness has been fixed on Chrome. Thanks!

Router: DLink DIR-890L (both as routers/ap)
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r36410M kongac (07/28/1Cool
Kernel: 4.4.145
Status: WDS not functional
Reset: No (upgraded from the previous build via GUI)

Last working build for stable WDS is 35550M. I have also tried erasing nvram with builds before this one to no avail. It seems to be something off with wds0.1 not being mapped in Setup -> Networking...and I'm not the only one:

Try to enable OpenVPN server in the Services tab and maybe put some delay into your scripts before it starts executing. BS has been changing the codes that’s controlling the router behaviors and I guess that’s messing up your scripts.

Or as you found out, loading the tun module works as well.

Thanks for the info. I found the Wireless not to be usable with these newer builds and have the Wireless R7000 on build 35550M which allows me to have all devices connecting to any of the 5 SSIDs (3 SSIDs on wl0 & 2 SSIDs on wl1) in my setup.

To turn off and on the Radios I use these commands that Kong provided...

# Radio wl0 off
startservice radio_off_0 -f
# Radio wl1 off
startservice radio_off_1 -f
# Radio wl0 on
startservice radio_on_0 -f
# Radio wl1 on
startservice radio_on_1 -f

These commands work perfectly with Build 35550M but not Build 36410M (only one tested after 35550M). So there something "screwy" with these newer builds and WiFi.

Also, with this Build 36410M there is no MAC issue all the MAC Addresses on all 5 SSIDs are different so it's something else.

Haven't tried it on this newer build, but on my AC68Us running Kong 35030M if I turn the radio off it hangs within five minutes every time.

I found running 'wl -i <dev> out' which mark the radio down without resetting the driver works fine. <dev> is your wireless device, so eth1 and eth2 on AC68U, wl0/wl1 on some others, etc.

You might also want to do stopservice nas but I don't think it really matters.
