I have been lurking this thread for a few hours trying to get this on my F7D8302v1, and I am stumped. I have never flashed a custom firmware before and every time I try I receive the error saying firmware image is invalid. Perhaps it is because the newest version doesn't support my model? Can someone help me out, I am at a loss.
first use the cfe server to flash the 17058 mini version availible on page 23 of this thread - you need to be logged in
then upgrade to the latest version from the web gui
Thanks for the quick reply, but I have done that already. Just to be sure, I just did it again, and got the same result. Here is a screencap of the error I am getting.

You've been given the wrong advice..
The file on page 23 is a file working on a bunch of Belkin routers when they already run dd-wrt and when you update using the dd-wrt web gui.
For a first time flash when running stock firmware you need to flash with a file that has the router version in the file name, ie dd-wrt.v24-17201_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_f7d4302.bin. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
You can just upload the file in update firmware of the current Belkin web GUI.
NOTE: you need to have the model number in the name for the Belkin firmware upgrade to register that it is a valid firmware file. ie. F7D4301-dd etc at the start of the file name.
Once this completes you can then use the DD-WRT firmware upgrade section of the new web GUI at http://192.168.1.1/ to move to a more complete build if the mini version does not do everything you want.
You can then use a build from the following ftp folder. Here is the link to the mega build.
Router Model
Belkin F7D4301 / F7D8301 v1
Firmware Version
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/15/11) mini - build 17058M NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko
Thats what I currently have on my belkin f7d8301v1...
is there a newer version I should use? Site confuses me a bit and the f7d8301 still doesnt show up in the router database...
First using a smaller build (ie mini) will give you a bigger jffs partition on the internal flash which let's you install more ipkgs without resorting to a USB arrangement (which is painful, speaking from experience).
The following link is a summary of the different features available between the builds and information about the project. You need to scroll towards the bottom and look for:
K2.6 Build Features :)
also I am using version 17058 mini, should one always upgrade to the latest BIG/MEGA version if its available? I
Also BasmantarD I linked the newest builds I could find above. Unless you are planning to use any of the extra features in the newer build I would just stay with the mini build. But that's just me.
