Hi folks,
I did search and came up empty on this one.
For Asus RT-N16 is it best to set Advanced Wireless as below (auto)

or like so (specific Left/Right):

thanks.

Leave them on auto.

thanks for that info.

I would like to know if there is any more info about this somewhere? I did read through all of those "bonehead" posts in your sig and didnt see anything (of course maybe I missed it) about antenna diversity.

the only reason i'm even bringing it up is because -- unscientifically -- I feel that after setting it up both ways, that performance seemed better when I had it at L/R vs. auto.

L/R restricts the router from picking the optimum diversity. Best info on antennas in general is in the "catfish" thread, (linked in number 18 of the peacock thread.) But test and see what works best in your environment.

If you search for other posts by "Ruddles" there is some discussion of l/r issues, IIRC.

luckman212,
I did some extensive testing today and found out that the antenna settings made NO difference whatsoever.
This was tested on a ASUS RT-N16 with big build 14311 using an external 8db antenna with a 6' cable.
Setting the external antenna outside (with the router inside kind of buried), it made no difference setting tx left with rx left versus tx right with rx right. It was as though they were still on auto. This was after hitting save, apply, and also unplugging and rebooting.
I also switched the outside antenna with the other antenna connectors on the device and no difference.
Also tested this using n only, b only, b and g only, and g and n only....same results, Using Netstumbler and an Airview2 spectrum analyzer.
EDIT:What I am saying is that the large antenna was always working the same.
