Ok I set neighbor on the LAN no problem. But this is an AP, I don't have a WAN port. Why is it reporting the wrong MAC for it? It still shows the original one I set with the typo - 64:70:02:DC:C7:5A.
I wonder what kind of errors this will cause me down the road.
Can't tell for sure what the problem is but, with the exception of WLAN "ath0", every other MAC address is wrong
eth0, wan, lan, br0 and br0:0.
By the way, has anyone reported this issue to the bug tracker?
Because I've been watching the bug tracker for days and there were no mention of this access point being bricked from installing of the test builds of dd-wrt.
I tried to load this version of dd-wrt. It appeared to be successful as the router is broadcasting an ssid of dd-wrt. However I cannot access the setup at all. I can connect, but neither 192.168.1.1 nor 192.168.1.254 bring up the setup. At this point I'm mainly interested in just returning to the original firmware as I don't think I knew enough to attempt this in the first place.
Thanks for any help. This seemed like a good place to ask.

Did you bother on reading all the pages, and a very foolish way to access the AP webpage?
Ah, I'm very sorry. I must have been frustrated last night and skipped a couple pages and skimmed too quickly.
I'll try this. Thanks
EDIT: This worked well, thanks. One last question though, I find that I cannot access the setup when my I've connected my router through the WAN port. In other words, when there is no internet connection, I can enter the setup, but of course I cannot access the internet. When I do have the ethernet cable plugged in, I have internet but no setup.
I noticed this with the factory firmware as well. Is there a solution for this other than remote access?
EDIT 2: The AP was sometimes switching between the two states like above. Unchecking "Assign WAN Port to Switch" makes it so that there is internet access but no setup.
EDIT 3: It appears that what i said about the WAN port to switch was incorrect. I just takes a few minutes of being connected to the AP for the state to switch. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

I tried to the method above using Windows Vista and after I did the arp -a, the IP (192.168.1.1) is with the right Mac Address. However when I accessed it with Macintosh (Lion), I found that the IP address is not with the right Mac address. I went back to VIsta and check, the IP is still with the right Mac address.
So, I wonder if there is any command in Macintosh for the method. The arp -a command worked, but not the others.
Thanks
sudo arp -S 192.168.1.1 90:F6:52:76:**:**
Worked for me to update the arp-table in OSX 10.8.
The capital S flag both deletes the old and adds the new entry.
(Change the mac-address part to the one on your AP:s back sticker.)
I then rebooted the access point, quickly changed the password and did the other changes no55 suggested.
It's only been running DD-WRT for one day, but this far without any issues. H/W version 2.3.
thanks to all of your guys' work i am posting this from my tl-wa901nd v2.3. of course though, i do have a problem. it seems that after i connect to the AP, i have to very quickly access the web interface through a browser or i wont be able to even ping it. i think other users have mentioned this but then said theirs was working fine afterwards...
for example if i tell windows to connect to the AP and i wait 30 seconds then do a ping of 192.168.1.1 the ping will time out. however if, while i am connecting to the AP, i start the ping, it will succeed and i will have connectivity for a while but it will eventually stop working.
it seems to be based on activity. if i continually ping the AP say every few seconds i wont lose connectivity. the oddest bit is that the connection still remains just the router isnt listening for packets from my machine (or so i guess...). ive tried putting a cron on the AP that continually pings my machines ip, but that is retarded in my opinion...
perhaps the interface is going down after a period of inactivity? although how could this be, its still broadcasting the ssid. from my end i can disconnect from it and reconnect to it at will to get it working again...
Hello. I´ve got a 901 v2. I´m looking how install wrt firm, but i dont see it. Can ud help me to do it?
I need it because with the original firm, the conexion is up, down, slow, freezee... and the last try is install this firm.
But attention. Theres was a big bug in the previous Firmware Version. After flashing the Router is not reachable over LAN / W-LAN. Try this Firmware only if you have Serial Access to the AP.
Read this Thread complete before you do anything.
I dont know if the bug is already fixed in this Version
2. my antenna was bricked ... I was not able to do anythig.
I managed to debrick it using no55 instructions (page 6 on this topping)
"
Turn on your TL-WA901ND v2 without LAN connected.
Connect via wireless. (SSID: DD-WRT)
Start a command prompt with administrators privileges (start>all programs>accessories>right click command prompt and run as administrator).
Type arp -a to get a list of what ip's are attached to what mac's.
Type netsh -c "interface ipv4" (with quotation marks) and will get the new prompt netsh interface ipv4>
Open network and sharing center and note the connection name. Mine is "Wireless Network Connection"
Check the bottom of your TL-WA901ND v2 for its mac address.
Type in command prompt set neighbors "Wireless Network Connection" "192.168.1.1" "F8-B1-11-BF-**-**" Note quotation marks and substitute F8-B1-11-BF-**-** with your own mac.
type exit to get back the normal command prompt and type arp -a again and make sure there is now the right mac against 192.168.1.1
Open browser and then open the web interface by typing 192.168.1.1
"
3. Setup - Basic Setup
disable WAN (WAN Connection Type - Connection Type -> disabled)
check "Assign WAN Port to Switch"
setup up a correct ip/gateway/dns for LAN ("Router IP - Local IP Address")
That is all.
It is working like a dream.
Good luck.

Hi I am stuck on netsh
I get the following
set neighbors "dd-wrt" "192.168.1.1" "64-70-02-f7-d5-4c"
The filename, directory name or volume name syntax is incorrect.
Also I can't access router from 192.168.1.1.
Ok I managed to do all this and edited the IP to 192.168.0.201
But once I connect to my wireless router with cable and plug the TP with cable I am unable to see it again on the IP 0.201.
Someone help? Please.

Ok. thanks for the reply, but i was done and i´ve bricked the 901. Can any tell me how unbrick?
I´ve seeing make a circuit, but i dont know was the map.
Any people can help me?
I have a TP-Link WA901ND Ver 2.3 - all ready to upgrade to DD-WRT.
I am a little confused - having read all this thread. Before I start flashing anything could someone clear up the following:
10-12-12 firmware 20119
This is reported as working - but after flashing needs the MAC address correction using set neighbours to regain access. Not ideal but workable.
01-01-13 firmware 20453
Only reference to this is from Luda - indicating the "previous" version had a bug requiring access via serial. Does "previous" mean 20119 or 20453? Does this mean that the MAC workaround no longer works - so you have to use a serial link? What changes are in 20453 compared to 20119 - are they worth trying 20453 or better to try 20119?
Do the reports on "disconnection unless active" (eg kevinkreiser) apply to both above firmware versions or only to the older one?

Need your help. Flashed the firmware of the access point, 01-24-2013-r20548.
There was an open wifi network ssid "dd-wrt"
Wireless network card is renamed to "12345"
Physical access point MAC 00-0c-e3-ac-d7-7e
C:\arp -a
Interface: 192.168.1.114 --- 0xa
Internet Address Physical Address Type
192.168.1.1 00-0c-e3-ac-d7-7e static
192.168.1.255 ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff static
Run, with admin rights
C:\netsh -c "interface ipv4"
netsh interface ipv4>
Next
set neighbors "12345" "192.168.1.1" "00-0c-e3-ac-d7-7e"
And connected via wifi (dd-wrt) and LAN interface on the web to get can not.
The access point reboots.
Tried to connect from another computer.
