hello, in "installed" dd-wrt on my Netgear WNR3500L and im not happy with it, i want to go back to the original netgear program but i dont know how to do it, i tried the 30-30-30 reset thing and i didnt work and i've tried to "install" the firmwares that are on myopenrouter page but that didnt work either, do someone know what im suppose to do?

I tried to upgrade the .chk firmware on the webgui and it just say "incorrect image file" i tried to change the file from .chk to .bin and the upgrade started but then "upgrade failed", I also tried TFTP2 and wrote 192.168.1.1 in the "server" field and choose the file put then i got "no resposone from server"

What im i doing wrong?

Timing is everything. Have your TFTP set up and ready to go. Watch the LAN light on the router and start the TFTP as soon as it comes on after a reboot.

If you have DD-WRT installed and need to re-install the Netgear firmware for some reason, or just put the router in to tftp acceptance mode...

1. ssh or telnet to the router
2. enter the following command at the shell prompt (this effectively deletes the OS causing the router to go in to recovery mode on the next reboot/power cycle):
* "mtd erase linux"
3. you should see a message similar to:
* Unlocking linux ...
Erasing linux ...
4. wait until you are returned back to the shell prompt
5. power cycle the router
6. allow the router to finish booting (the Power LED will be lit solid for 10-15 seconds)
7. there after the Power LED should be flashing
8. you should be able to ping the router IP, generally 192.168.1.1
9. if you get a ping response the router is in tftp recovery mode
10. you should now be able to tftp an appropriate *.chk file to the router
* you can upload either an original Netgear firmware OR a known working DD-WRT chk file for this router

Use a program called Putty to ssh in, google it, also you can telnet, you don't HAVE to just ssh to it.

win7

when i type telnet 192.168.1.1 it says that is not a commando, and when i type ipconfig and checked it had a ip that was the same except the end a 2 instead of 1, and that didnt work either.

Ok, i've downloaded PuTTYtel and then i wrote the ipadress ,i get this command window asking for ddwrt login and password, i wrote admin then pressed enter with no problems, but i cant write the password, nothing happens....but the command window is answering.

I just press enter when the program is asking for password i just get "login incorrect", its the same login/password as when i log in through webgui?

What is suppose to happen when i telnet, how do i know the telnet works?

is 192.168.1.1 the right ipadress?

i also tried to write mtd erase linux but the command prompt just denied that to saying its not a commando.

Does it matter if I use a tp cable or wireless while im doing this, im using wireless right now.
I've tried tho with tp cable and was just the same with PuTTYtel.[/img]

when you telnet in, it'll ask for your user/password
User:root
Password:whatever_you_set_it_to

Telnet works or you wouldn't be able to enter and it asking you for a user/password
