When looking up the wnr2000 v2 in the router database via: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database
I see under build 21061 that"K26 voip-small" is listed as a supported firmware but it's listed as 3.64 MB in size.
Seeing as other posts say this unit can't take firmware larger then "3392 KB" can anyone confirm or deny if this build is indeed supported (I don't want to test it myself and potentially brick my router)?

I have not tried that one, but I have no trouble with the main builds in the search engine in the past, (other than ssh not working). However I have noticed through my testing 10-15 images not listed that the size of the image does not really mater so much within reason mine is 3480 KB and works fine, but others of the same size, smaller or much bigger bricked it. (all of the ~3.5mb is size + or minus a few 100k)
If your not comfortable with the debriking process stick with the ones from the search engine.
If you did not notice it on the link, here is what it takes to debrick it. I got both of mine for $15-20 referb so I was fine messing with it as a second and 3rd router.
So the router database search for this router returns the initial flash firmware, plus K26 mini, openvpn-small, std-nokaid-small, and voip-small.
Reading through this forum also reports that there's a 3392 KB size limit for the firmware.
All of the files listed as being supported by this router for the 21061 build are *larger* than 3392 KB.
Which ones are safe to flash? Which ones aren't? I don't want a bricked router but we have a flash image up there (K26 std-nokaid-small) that is 3625 KB. That's quite a bit larger than 3392 KB.
Direction as to which versions are safe and which aren't are greatly appreciated!

I have the same question as suprdave, but I also want to know how to find the build that the wiki mentions (18777) as well as the K26 build 23838 that rpadula mentions. I only know how to use the Router Database to consume what it suggests. Sorry for the noob question. I searched the forum and wiki for how to do this but failed.

There is a new build (23919) out for this router. Did anyone try out this build?
mon224, how did you determine that there is a new build for this router? The database says that the latest is 21061 (which is over the supposed size limit as previously mentioned)

Go to those beta firmwares and look at the broadcom K26 folder, you'll find a firmware for the WNR2000v2, but I wanted to know if anyone tried that.
Maybe the WIFI bug problem had been fixed? I don't know the answere. That's why I'm asking if anyone tried it out. You'll notice in that K26 folder a mini, openvpn small, std nokaid small & voip small version. Now compare it to the last working build 21061 (data size).

I've flashed a K26 build 23838.
it's definitely larger than 3392 bytes:
3.567.616 bytes
But i'm having issues with the wifi radios not working, and there's a ticket for that.
So i need to go back to the last build i've ran which was 20548 but i want to use a newer build than that.
can anyone help?
For example this person right here even tried out the previous build before 23919. As you can read that one has issues with the WIFI radio.
What version did he actually use? mini or std nokiad small?
I just want to compare notes.
Another example: I also have the WNR2000 VERSION 3 and I managed to flash the latest 23919 firmware even though the WIKI page says that the last working firmware is 18777, because of the data size. (you'll find the details here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=260447&start=60 )
Inspired by the VERSION 3 maybe it is possible to flash the latest firmware to the VERSION 2. That's why I'm asking if anyone already tried this out and share their experience.
I recommend you to read threw the forums and compare the users notes with other posts or wiki page.
Please note: VERSION 2 and VERSION 3 have diffrent hardware. For those who don't know what I'm talking about: do NOT flash the latest build 23919 for WNR2000 VERSION 3 to the WNR2000 VERSION 2. It will brick your router

I'm using netgear jwnr2000v2 router with a private ISP. The problem is, if I plug in the ethernet cable (by isp) to my laptop, the internet works properly. But when it is connected to my netgear router, and laptop is connected to netgear's wifi, most websites are not loading and few are partially loading.
I tried finding the right mtu size from comand prompt and entering into router but no luck. ( as mentioned in their site)
So installing this OS will solve the problem?
Somebody please help.
Thanks!

I went to http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads, and followed the path of: Downloads › betas › 2012 › 03-19-12-r18777, but in that folder there is nothing for generic Broadcom nor specifically for the wnr2000v2. The closest I could find there is for wnr2000v3, which others have said is completely wrong for the v2. Sorry to seem like such a noob.
Separately, it seems that some people are reporting success with the "oversized" 21061 build? Does anyone have current/ongoing personal experience with 21061? I really don't want to brick this.
By the way, the whole reason I'm looking to upgrade is that I currently have 17990 on it, but my new Windows 8 machine doesn't seem to work with it. My old XP machine worked just fine with it (17990) though.
Also, something suspicious is going on, in that my primary Router/Gateway (Asus RT-N66U stock firmware) does not show the Netgear WNR2000v2 (build 17990, client bridge mode) as a client, but it does show my Linksys WRT54G (build 13064, bridge mode) as a client, even though the Netgear is providing internet connectivity to the XP machine!
Has anyone flashed any of the more recent beta builds (latest is 24461) to this router and got the wifi working? Or am I just better using the recommended wiki file below?
dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin
I see that there is a K26 and K3x build for this router in the beta builds folder. Given that the wiki states explicitly that only K26 builds work has anyone tried a K3x build yet?
I'm not new to dd-wrt but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information regarding what will/will not brick this router w.r.t. flash size etc. Just want to make sure if I do flash it I don't brick it unnecessarily
Its been working and so far no wireless drops anymore when in client bridge.
I can verify this build is working for me too.
With build 17990, I lost connection to the primary router (through the secondary router) after rebooting from the administration tab. Manually power cycling fixed it. So far looks OK.
I previously tried build 14536 mini, but enabling security on the second WiFi network in repeater bridge mode would cause it to continuously restart Wi-Fi.
Hi,
on e3000 I tried
dd-wrt.v24-23919_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin
dd-wrt.v24-23919_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv60k.bin
Installation process was OK, but no wi-fi, tx=0, and wi-fi LED not active ... so I didn't try other things like ddns, openvpn and reverted to my very old version 16785 (big, nv60)
K2.6 is known not to have wireless working for this router for several/many builds (not sure when it broke). Some between 222000 and 235xx.
You have to use the 3.X line for working wireless.
So according to that report, then this seems to be the latest known good version in respect to the general broadcom wifi bug:
[EDIT]
Having said that, I just tried upgrading using the dd-wrt firmware update feature. To try the file K26 22118 mini.bin. And that bricked the device... (solid amber light). Then I had to short the jumper pins, to get green flashing light again. Then used tftp.exe to upload the recommended 17990.chk. That one worked no problems and it's back working again. Now on the dd-wrt firmware 17990.
