FYI, first flash from stock firmware with the 21061 chk linked in the wiki failed twice, taking me to the power led blinks eternally state (ttl=100). I had to tftp with stock firmware from there again.
Only the 14536 linked in this thread worked. Shouldn't this be updated in the wiki?

Successfully upgraded to DD-WRT v3.0-r27745 vpn-small (08/25/15) from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/08-25-2015-r27745/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-27745_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin without any reset of settings.
Initially everything looks to be okay!!!

I want to confirm that I also updated my Netgear WNR2000v2 with build 27745 openvpn small.bin without reset of settings. Everything went well. I use it as a client bridge to keep it behind the firewall. With build 27745 installed I think I can put it back out on the internet without concern. Great job guys!!! Very Happy

On my WNR2000v2, I tried upgrading from 26490-mini to 27745-mini, but that bricked it. After restoring with TFTP, I tried several times with the same result.

I then tried 27745-openvpn-small and that worked. It's odd...the VPN file is larger. Is it possible the 27745-mini file is corrupt?

I flashed dd-wrt.v24-27944_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin and that one worked.

These bricked my router (when flashing from the DD-WRT web interface):

dd-wrt.v24-27745_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin
dd-wrt.v24-27858_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin

The 'openvpn small' versions of those builds did work.

But, now the latest mini build (27944 as of this post) is working again.

How is the mini 27944 build behaving for you?
Also how did you do reset? hard 30/30/30 or something different?
I want to try a fresher mini build than the updated 3/25 build recommended in the wiki, but one that won't brick and doesn't act to wonky. Did you try the 27944 'openvpn small' on your WNR2000V2?

WNR2000v2 Successful flash to latest beta build 26490 (both mini and vpn-small)
path I took to get here:
Stock
dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR2000v2.chk
dd-wrt.v24-18777_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin
dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin 3.37 MB (3,543,040 bytes)
dd-wrt.v24-26490_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin 3.40 MB (3,567,616 bytes)

Obviously flashing the last two it would appear that some of the historical information in the wiki about flash size limit is NOT accurate... (i.e. 3392 KB)
per Peacock, Note 4...
Quote:
4MB flash chip Netgear routers: 3735552 bytes

That was what I used as a reference.

PS. I have updated the WIKI with this information. Smile This post has also been linked. So, any feedback from users that have tested more advanced configurations on more recent builds (like 26490) would be appreciated.

How did you reset when going from one build to another, if at all ? Did you Restore to factory defaults, or used reset button, or the famous 30/30/30 method ?

reset via drop down on firmware update page each time...

Then once on "dd-wrt.v24-26490_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin" i also reset by holding reset button till wifi led went out (13-15 seconds). and waited for complete reboot 3-5 minutes (when WIFI light came back on, and TTL ping responses were 64 again)

(did not try a 30-30-30, given the other two methods listed above always took me back to the 'create password' GUI)

Any idea what the latest, stable, least amount of bugs build that would work for the WNR2000v2?

After a friend visited with some small enough torx bits, I was able to unbrick my WNR2000v2 today, back to 15962..

(I found that shorting the pins [are they the data pins for flashrom I wonder?] specified at the right time, you get a consistent ping ttl of 100 beyond 5-10 responses, and then you can stop shorting, as the SoC has stopped trying to load the flash ROM... then after successful upgrade, it reboots a few times, and TTL goes from 100 to 64 to indicate that it's gone from bootloader to OS)

Now I've unbricked it, I would like to run something more current... So is the concensus, for now, that 27944 mini and other variants of same build are the most recent?

I just flashed DD-WRT v3.0-r28846 mini (01/16/16) and it seems to work just fine. The device was on some stock firmware, so I first flashed the chk linked in the wiki and then upgraded to ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/01-16-2016-r28846/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-28846_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin. I did not reset the device in between, but chose to erase the configuration when upgading to 28846.

However, virtual wireless interfaces still do not work.

I can confirm the firwmare antiguru posted works. I just flashed it from a 03/19/2015 build with out doing a reset.

I also want to warn that over clocking it to 400 or higher will lock it up and cause it not to work and you will have to do a hard 30-30-30 reset.

300 is safe and working. I had this same problem with the 03/19/2016 build. Yes I had to do a 30-30-30 reset after testing out if over clocking to 400 would work, it does not

Upgrading to dd-wrt.v24-29134_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin from an older working DD-WRT bricked my router and required a tftp unbrick.

Going stock -> dd-wrt.v24-15962_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR2000v2.chk -> dd-wrt.v24-28846_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin appears to be working fine.

Edit: I just noticed that the LAN port light on the front is orange even though the connection is 100 Mbit. This bug appears to be the same as described in the bugs section of the wiki page.

Help!
I have tried 26490 and 29621 both suggested in the wiki.
Both worked and installed with out a hitch.

However both are capping my wired WAN speed connection.
I have a 60Mbps connection. When connected directly to the modem I get like 65Mbps. When connected (wired) to the router with these builds I get like 25-30Mpbs.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
This has happened to me on two separate WNR2000V2.

I have WNR2000v2 unit deployed that's been running 18777 for a long time. I pulled it in for an upgrade and flashed successfully all the way up to 29621 as listed in the wiki at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNR2000V2

It loaded and seemed ok, but is not the most recent one, so I tried to load 30016, which is currently the most recent K26 build, as the post-30016 builds do not have a K26 branch for some reason.

30016 bricked it and I was stuck in amber power led. Following the guide at http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=81013 I successfully flashed the unit back to stock Netgear firmware. It required over 20+ attempts to finally get the timing to where it would boot to blinking green power led instead of the amber solid led. I uploaded stock firmware. I had to repeat the pin short attempt a few more times again to flash the firmware a second time, then it would boot into stock Netgear firmware.

Then I reloaded the 18777 build and upgraded to 29261. Will be trying it out.
