I have WNR2000v2 unit deployed that's been running 18777 for a long time. I pulled it in for an upgrade and flashed successfully all the way up to 29621 as listed in the wiki at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNR2000V2
It loaded and seemed ok, but is not the most recent one, so I tried to load 30016, which is currently the most recent K26 build, as the post-30016 builds do not have a K26 branch for some reason.
30016 bricked it and I was stuck in amber power led. Following the guide at http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=81013 I successfully flashed the unit back to stock Netgear firmware. It required over 20+ attempts to finally get the timing to where it would boot to blinking green power led instead of the amber solid led. I uploaded stock firmware. I had to repeat the pin short attempt a few more times again to flash the firmware a second time, then it would boot into stock Netgear firmware.
Then I reloaded the 18777 build and upgraded to 29261. Will be trying it out.
Interesting as I recently upgraded my WNR2000v2 to a 2016 firmware listed in the wiki. Previously I had build 21061 from 2013 running on it rock solid for years, both as my primary router then as a wireless bridge. No problems whatsoever. Needless to say the temptation to mess everything up was too great.
The upgrade was successful, but I immediately had problems as a wireless bridge using the exact settings as before. No SSID broadcast and half the time it would brick (solid green/orange lights) when I rebooted, requiring a hard 30-30-30 reset. Coming from a firmware version that gave me years of uptime (save power outages) this was frustrating.
I immediately switched back to v24-sp2 mini build 21061 and everything is working as before. It's the same out-of-date build that comes up when you do a model search from the main page. But in this case it's a stable one!
If you're not having any issues with 21061, then you probably want to stick with it, but I'd recommend you try iterating forward slightly to get a more recent build if possible.
Looking through the changelog, there have been a ton of improvements and updates since then. From my recent searching and updating of old models, I seem to see more incedents of wireless bridging issues like you describe with multiple versions and models, so it's just a sampling of forum reviews, but worth looking into a newer build that might solve that issue... _________________ Testing 2x TP-Link Archer C7 v2 with 38326

Just for people's info, thought I'd post my successful experience with my WNR2000v2:
I had stock netgear firmware to start with, so I flashed the 15962 .chk file from the wiki [1]first.
Then from the webgui, I flashed the 29621 firmware [2]. This was successful and seemed to be running fine, but I was unable to get the Repeater Bridge (or, indeed, Repeater only) mode working, despite following the instructions in the tutorial pages [3]. I couldn't see any additional info in this or other threads I found here, so...
I tried again, this time with 26490 openvpn [4]. Again, it flashed successfully, and following the same instructions, Repeater Bridge mode works as it should. It's been running for a couple of hours now, I will update if anything untoward happens.
All the firmware files I used were from the twiki. Other versions in between 26490 and 29621 may also have worked for me. However, I decided to stay on the safe side to save time, and chose to use the ones mentioned in the twiki, as I am not overly concerned about having the newest firmware.

EDIT 06-10-2016
It wasn't stable for long. SSID was still broadcasting, but nothing could connect. Tried hard reset and configuring again according to the above-mentioned tutorial, and of course I tried various things in the web interface, with no luck. In the end I had to go to dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini (from the database page) before i got it stable in Repeater Bridge mode.
One thing I found during my investigations is that my WNR2000v2 seems to have issues with the Bluetooth coexistence mode in the Wireless->Advanced Settings tab. Disabling it always produced better performance, as expected, but in the case of 21061, it stopped the SSID broadcast completely.
Anyway, if anyone has managed to get 26490, 29621, or any newer version than 21061 working in Repeater Bridge mode, what configuration settings did you use? The same as in the Repeater Bridge tutorial linked above?
Unfortunately I'm not gutsy enough to try a build newer than 29621 on this thing. It's my only router and I live with three other people, so I can't have hours of downtime while I'm jamming a screwdriver into the pins trying to unbrick it.
But that said, the new 30949 build is actually a smaller file size than 29621, so logically it should work? I hope someone with more backup equipment than I have gives it a shot. I'd love to have an updated kernel and whatnot.

Tried 30949 and no luck. Eventually the router turned on and it was stuck in some state where all the lights were amber. Tried the mini and WNR2000v2 builds with no luck. I also tried 30880 WNR2000v2 and mini builds. Those seemed like they worked (it appeared to boot fine--lights were correct this time and changed after an amount of time when it normally would have booted), but it wouldn't respond to pings/didn't work. I left my serial cable at school so didn't really have an opportunity to look into it more. It seems like 30880 may just have some small issues, but not really sure without logs/any other info.
fyi, if you're having problems getting it into recovery mode, I've had the best of luck bridging the pins right after the blue wifi LED flashes during boot (about 4-5 seconds in). If all the LEDs stay a solid color, too early. The power LED should start flashing green within a couple seconds of bridging the pins if done correctly (at least on mine)
I was also able to upgrade successfully to 31221. I wanted to add it to the wiki so more users can know, but I don't seem to be able to create an account there. There's a "login/create account" page but it only has a login form.
But hey, I'd rather have issues with the site than my router. That thing is working fine.

r31221 is working well on my netgear wnr2000v2 too. Glad to see a recent build workng well on this old workhorse. Previously had build 15962 which is very stable too. One gripe about this router is that no matter what build I use, if I set wireless to 802.11b, and in wireless advanced settings force it to 1 mbps, it ignores the 1 mbps setting and auto-negotiates at 11 mbps anyway. It'll still go down to 1 mbps with a weak signal, such as using as a repeater at long distance, so it really is set to 802.11b, it just ignores the transmit rate setting. No big deal, it still works fine like that. On a side note, I'm using r31221 mega build on a netgear WNDR4500v2 and it's working well. r31221 seems to be a very good build. Thanks to the devs!
Hello, I just discovered dd-wrt and this forum and I really would want to have it working on my router, I have a WNR2000v2 and I would want to flash this version dd-wrt.v24-26490_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin

I upgraded to dd-wrt.v24-31221_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini from the 15962 initial flash without a problem. I've been using this old workhorse as my primary router for months without a significant issue.
The wiki claims that 33413 is also working, but I don't want to bother with it because it doesn't patch KRACK. Still, feel free to confirm whether it works. If anyone still has one of these wnr2000v2 routers around to test and can load something newer than 33607 on it, I would appreciate the report. I read that 33607 is pretty small, so there's possibly hope there.

For the record, KRACK is a client-side vulnerability. My understanding is the only risk at the router level is if you were meshing mulitple together. Maybe a developer can correct me on that.
I'm still hoping for an update, but no more than usual.
